Much information/photos/video footage is provided for prospective buyers to be confident that this 911 is for them. I am an experienced classic and exotic sports car enthusiast and have owned multiple air cooled 911s before. I have sold other vehicles via Ebay nationwide and worldwide with 100% positive feedback.
Intro
For your consideration is this Porsche 911 Cabriolet (1975 chassis) widebody slant nose conversion with the bulletproof 3.0 SC engine and 915 5 speed SC transmission. This is an example of a 911 that would make an excellent presentable driver. With the RUF wheels, pearl yellow paint, and being a widebody slant nose, it looks absolutely stunning from 10 feet away. It can be driven and enjoyed as is but has a few things that can be taken care of mechanically and cosmetically.

Exterior Cosmetics
The body on this 911 overall is very solid and is one of the more solid ones I have seen for originally being a ‘75. The floors and underside look good. The trunk floor is good with some minor scaling by the battery area. The windshield surround is absent of any bubbling. There is a paint bubble on the front lip of the trunk lid but you can see under it and it does not necessarily look like rust. The rest of the body looks good. The widebody is steel and looks to be welded on and done properly by a shop from what I can tell. The underbody looks solid. I do not see evidence of accidents or significant damage.
I do not know how long ago this finish was applied but it looks to have been professionally done, and must have been striking when new, and now still looks striking in the sun from about 10 feet away but when about 2 feet away some aging and flaws can be seen. There are some areas where a prior person did some poor touch up on some chips. The lower half of the front fascia has been resprayed due to scuffs and so on, does not match the greatest, has some repair/cracks, but also does look acceptable in person for a driver condition car though. There are some other miscellaneous spots of wear that keep this 911 more in the driver condition for the exterior cosmetics but again, from 10 feet away, it does look quite nice. The finish does have a nice glossiness to it and looks great being pearl yellow. In the sun, the color changes a bit. The panels do match throughout in terms of the tint/color.
I am not 100% certain if the rims are genuine RUF rims or not, as on the backside it has the same markings that I have seen on genuine ones like “Made in Italy”. Whether they are genuine or reproductions, either way, both are quite pricey. These are in very nice shape with a few minor markings, no major damage. They are polished and shine nicely. I measured the rear rim width when I had them off and it seemed like 10.5”-11” almost. Either way, the rims look great and appropriate on this 911. If you are not familiar with these rims or RUF, Google search “911 Yellow Bird”. To sum up the exterior, if you are looking for a driver condition 911, you should find this 911 to be quite presentable and very attractive with the combination of the widebody, slant nose, rear vents, RUF wheels, pearlescent yellow paint, and being a cabriolet.
Interior Cosmetics
The interior is presentable enough for a driver car. The dashpad and dash front is fine. The plastic by the radio does have a crack in it. The door panels are fine but do show some aging. The seats are newer leather sport seats, with the bigger bolsters, and are comfortable. The power needs to be hooked up on them yet so the seats can go forward and backward. The carpet is fine. Back seats are fine. Center console is good. The interior will not win any awards for pristine condition but it is complete and overall in presentable condition for a driver.
Mechanically
Very importantly, this 3.0 SC engine seems to be in good health. It is code 930/16 which means it is from a 1981-1983 SC. It starts very easily, idles fine, has great oil pressure, keeps a proper oil temperature, and does not excessively consume or excessively drip oil. Typical to these engines, if the car has sat for multiple weeks it will puff some smoke on startup but is then fine after that. It does not do it when it is driven more frequently. It does not leave a puddle of oil on the ground but will leave about three quarter sized drips. It has the upgrade to the turbo valve covers. In terms of reliability and power, the 1978-1983 911 SC engine is a big improvement from the original engine that came in the 1975 911. The transaxle is the five speed 915 trans from the 1978-1983 SCs. These are known for not being the smoothest shifting transmissions but otherwise being functional. This trans is no exception. The car can definitely be driven just fine but a little car must be taken when shifting into 1st and 2nd. The shifter has some play in it which a bushing kit should be able to solve.
The suspension feels proper and there are no issues with it that I am aware of. It looks to have the green Bilstein shocks. The steering is fine. Brakes are good and look to have plenty of pad life left. All gauges work except the speedometer, which needs a new cable it seems as the actual gauge does work (I tested it). I installed a new battery in spring 2017. The tires are newer high performance Dunlop Direzzas, have plenty of tread, and are in great shape. 235/45/17 in front and 265/40/17 in the rear. Overall, this is a 911 that can be driven around, starts up good, sounds great, but there are a few items the next owner should take care of:
-Rear brake lights are currently not working, panel is not mounted the greatest, has some cracks, and is faded
-I tested the speedometer gauge and it DOES work, but must need a new speedo cable, which is included.
-Passenger window switch currently not working
-The power seats are not hooked up, thus do not move forward or backward. I have not looked into it but hopefully it just needs 12v power.
-The convertible top plastic window has a cut in it so it should be either patched with clear adhesive or replaced. I have a patch I can put over it if someone really wants me to do it.
-The convertible top latch handles are missing, so for now it is very difficult to latch the top down
-Engine cover needs new shocks to hold it up
-Front trunk shocks are on the weaker side but not trustworthy enough to keep your head underneath it without it being supported
Conclusion
When deciding to buy a classic 911 it is important to find one that is overall rust free, is overall complete, actually is running and runs well, and drives. This 911 meets all those crucial areas while also adding in positives like looking absolutely stunning with the pearl yellow paint, slant nose widebody upgrade, and RUF wheels. The fact that it is also a cabriolet and has the bulletproof 911 3.0L SC engine are big positives as well. 911 SC restoration projects without engines cost about $15,000 these days while decent original SCs cost $35,000+! This slant nose widebody 911 is a great example for someone wanting to get into the air cooled 911 hobby with an attractive example they can drive, enjoy, and can tinker with while not breaking the bank.
