This 1988 Porsche 944 is 1of 500 Celebration Edition models producedto commemorate the100,000th car rolling off the Neckarsulm production line. The special edition cars were highly optioned and were offered in a choice of two colors. This example is finished inSatin Black Metallic overa Grey multi-tone Studiocloth interior. Two color choices were offered for the Celebration Edition, with 250 cars produced inZermatt Silverand 250 produced in Satin Black Metallic. The interior features special edition grey multicolor cloth fabric on both the seating surfaces as well as the door cards. Grey carpet was standard on all special edition cars.
This is a clean title car. She is not pristine showcar. However if you have any 944 experience it would not take a ton to bring her up to snuff. If you went to any car shows i would almost guarantee this is the only celebration you will come across given how so few of these there are. This cars paint looks great but is not perfect. It does have some small minor blemishes but shows quite well. The sunroof has a patch of bare metal on the very front of the sunroof area. 2 of the door trim pieces have a "wrinkle" unsure what caused that. The interior of the car is tired. While it may seem sad.....there is a company that specializes in materials for porsches. They have the exact material needed to restore the interior seats the new condition. The company is called werk924 and can easily be found online when googled. The dash is cracked, and it is missing the rear hatch carpet. Windshield wipers do not work. Unsure what it is. The blower motor for the heat/ac works. However currently ac does not work. There is no radio in the car but the wiring remains. The sunroof comes out of the car. But the sunroof lift on the passenger side has a broken plastic gear inside (so it does not work). The body and engine have approx 97k miles on it. While it does run and drive, it will require a tune up. Im assuming this is due to possible bad gas (given it sat a looooong time) or could be a misfire or vacuum leak. I did not dive into the car mechanically at all. I bought it drove it a bit to make sure mechanically she could drive. Then i trailered it back to the shop. This car was found locally here in the midwest (central Illinois area) and was partially restored. However i do have more experience working on older bmws than i do porsches.. This was just a fun hobby for me to bring her paint back to a beautiful luster and refinish the wheels. Im hoping it will sell to an enthusiast who will take it the next mile and finish her out so they can have a 1 of a kind porsche that will surely go up in value.
Please expect to do some work to the car. Im not trying to give the impression she is a 10/10 show car. I want to be fair and say shes about a 6/10. Being a nice clean rust free, shiny example of a 944 that could easily be worked on and appreciated at the same time. When restored, i feel the interior is absolutely beautiful. So please if you have any questions about this car feel free to message me and i will respond as quickly as possible. I tried to be as honest about the car as possible. Please note im not a "licensed" or certified mechanic in anyway. Im a simple DIY guy with some automotive experience. I just appreciate all cars and have always loved 944s. Thats why when i found this i had to shine her up.
Recently there was one of these that sold on bring a trailer. Early August/2017 and it brought over 10,000. So if your looking for a one of a kind investment or porsche this is it. Would be a wonderful piece to enjoy when finished up.
Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
