1994 Porsche 968 Cabriolet
Hello, and thanks for checking out my auction. I found a really cool car the other day and thought it eBay would be the exact place to show it to the public. Hopefully it finds a forever home out there. These cars are getting pretty rare and I really like this one. It’s not perfect, and I will get to all of that, but it’s a great start or a great driver as it sits.
It’s finished in its factory Grand Prix White with Navy Blue Leather and Soft Top. The car has 211,xxx miles on it and although the Carfax shows a few discrepancies, they are obvious clerical errors. I believe these to be the actual miles since new.
It is a 6-Speed and it shifts perfectly and the clutch is great too. The linkage is tight and there are no issues with the shifting performance. All of the syncros work perfectly up and down.
The engine is just as impressive. Clean under the hood with clean oil too. No drips or gasket seepage. The 968 starts easily with no smoke or grief of any kind. The exhaust is aftermarket, but was done properly by a professional. It sounds great and with the help of a K&N filter, allows air to flow through this engine easily. The throttle is responsive and the power is even and impressive. I had not driven one of these cars in years and did not remember being all that impressed. I am now however. This car runs well. There are NO “check engine” or “SRS” lights illuminated on the dash.
The wheels and brakes and suspension all add to the fun of this Porsche. The upgraded 19’’ wheels are wrapped in a staggered set of Hankook Ventus V12 evos. 275/30ZR 19s rear and 235/35ZR 19s front. The tires are 65% tread and all matching. The wheels look fantastic on the car and they have very little curb rash. The shocks and struts are excellent and the ride height is great. The tires rub when the wheels are at lock at either end. The power assist steering is super tight and gives just enough help that you get some luxury without sacrificing the kinetic attachment to the road that we all want in a sporting car. There is an occasional light squeak in the brakes, but there is plenty of pad left so I’m not sure why. All in all, I don’t think any buyer will be disappointed with the mechanics of this 968.
The electronics of the Porsche seem to still work great. Both power windows and the electric top work well. All the gauges seem to operate properly and the A/C blows ice cold too. The driver’s seat button that moves the seat up and down is broken (pictured) but it moves forward and back just fine. The pop up lights are working well. There is some cracking on the light buckets.(pictured)
The cosmetics are where this car could use a little help. The good news is, all the paint is great. Outside of a few stone chips that are touched up, I would consider the paint to be excellent. I would go as far as saying that the paint is all original and factory sprayed. I can find no paint lines or evidence of any work at all. This is a 100% RUST FREE VEHICLE. The Porsche has spent its entire life in California and it is as dry as it could possibly be.
The canvas top is in fair condition. The power motor works as it should up and down and it seals well, but the rear window is a bit cloudy, and there are a few small holes that have been patched with what looks like epoxy. It is totally functional and does its job, however. If you are a perfectionist, plan on buying a top. The top cover is missing.
The leather has dried a bit on the seats. There are some stiches that have come loose too. The dash has a few cracks and the hinges are broken on the center console. The Radio is totally missing; I imagine the speakers are still in the doors. The carpet is really nice still.
I am going to include a picture of every blemish so you can get an idea of the good, the bad and the ugly. This car is going to make somebody very happy. It’s good now, and close to great. I will answer all questions and include them in the ad. I do not have a single receipt for any past work or service done to the Porsche. There are no books either. The only service I know about is what is on Carfax.
I am setting the reserve very low and fully expect the car to sell the first go around. Please ask any questions you have before bidding. The car is available for showings in Portland, Oregon. It comes with a clean Carfax and Clean California title.
I will do everything in my power to make sure this is a fair auction all around. You can help me with that by not bidding if you can’t or don’t want to actually pay for the car. I also reserve the right to end the auction early if someone calls me and we work out an agreement on price. I only talk money on the phone so fell free to call if you want to. I do love to talk about this carJ
Thanks for reading the whole ad and HAPPY BIDDING!!!
