This car was assembled by a Porsche specialist nearly 18 years ago for a good friend and serial Porsche owner interested in trying out club racing. The owner quickly moved on to other things without ever taking the car to a track. The owner had some frustrating ignition issues and was unwilling to spend any more money on his project. The result was that the car sat in his garage unused for over 14 years. In total, the build was driven less than a couple thousand street-only miles. After being passed around among my group of car friends, I decided to get the car back on the road and sorted.(short list of new parts below) Ignition issues solved by simply replacing everything. The latest digital MSD unit with adjustable rev limit was used. Big improvement for these cars.
Was a fun project. Love the car. Even my wife likes driving it.Ultimately though, I just don’t have room in my life for it. I will use the funds to complete a couple other projects including a bit more family-friendly early 911.

Engine
2.3 liter engine.Complete mild race rebuild by MotorMeister. It was meant to run as a 2.2 in terms of club racing class but with a touch of extra displacement via bigger bore, high compression 11 to 1 forged pistons. MotorMeister claimed it made nearly 200hp on their dyno. Ported heads, bigger valves (46mm by 40mm, 906 cams. (list attached) Only a few thousand easy miles on this complete refresh. The car has sadly never been tracked. The rebuild was completed in 99, but was only used for a couple thousand miles.
It pulls nicely and makes the car far more fun on local twisty roads than would be something with tons more power. The fun is in working to make the most of the car and the greater opportunity to actually use full throttle.
The car runs well and makes all those great vintage 911 sounds. The exhaust is healthy, but certainly not too loud for the street. The rear main seal leaks a fair amount. Likely dry from sitting. Not an expensive thing to fix but since I don’t have a lift here, not something I have had neither time nor motivation to fix.
Body
The car was assembled from two newer chassis, (77, I believe) the front section came from a car that suffered an engine fire, the rear came from a car that suffered a front impact. The work was reasonably well done. Not perfect, but not bad either. At the same time a full cage was integrated that was exceptionally well executed making the car very stiff and very safe. There is a bar welded between the front strut towers and the rear cage braces extend cleanly through the firewall to the rear shock towers. The donor cars were otherwise low mileage and rust free. The only minor exception are two very small spots, one on each A pillar, due to bad prep. There is a parking-lot crease on the passenger door, and a section under the white vinyl where filler had flaked off in the same incident. There is a small dent on the drivers door. Door gaps are fairly ugly. The vinyl is all removable, but it may take some of the paint along with it if you are not careful. I have attempted to include detail shots of any flaws. See the photos link for lots of detail.
The tail is reported to be a real IROC tail. Based on the other parts I saw around the shop it is certainly from a period race car.
The paint is not all that well executed but certainly adds to the serious driver look. Very presentable. Great for stress-free driving. The color is Porsche Viper Green (referring to the snake, not the car).
Side windows are lightweight Plexiglass with straps for side window lifts. I was told the car was weighed at 1,800 lbs.
Transmission
Short ratio 915 box pulled originally from a car with 23,000 miles. Shifts like new.
Interior
The roll cage is very well done by a skilled race fabricator and Porsche specialist. The Kirkey seat is very safe but some may find it narrow. Proper seat brace is installed. Carpet and finish is definitely race-leaning.
Passenger seat is a fuller size corbeau. You could switch them if you need the extra width.
There are no keys, just a racing cutoff switch. There is no heat. And of course no radio.
Suspension and Wheels
Car runs upgraded sway bars and torsion bars. Rear Bilstiens are brand new. Car is stiff but streetable. Brakes stop very well.
Wheels are authentic forged BBS RS wheels, hastily painted black.
What it Still Needs
The tach doesn’t work since I installed the MSD. Will need one of the MSD tach adapters.
The rear main seal leaks. Your local Porsche specialist can complete this in 4 hours or under.
Not a bad DIY job either.
