1965 Porsche 356 C Description

GR Auto Gallery is please to present this iconic, 1965 Porsche 356 C Cabriolet to the world stage. The Porsche 356 layout was none other than a nothing-wasted design with top-notch workmanship and outstanding road manners. This blue print for Porsche turned into instant sports car success from the pre-production models through 1965 when production ended for the 356. The car was configured in a closed coupe as well as a few different styles of open cars. The evolution of... the 356 was more in performance and functionality rather than superficial styling changes. The tail end of production for the 356's were the "c" models or known by some as the disc brake cars. They were not only the most refined but also the cars with the most power. The 1965 Porsche 356 C offered here is a highly original example that has been with the current owner for the last 22 years. He acquired the vehicle from the state of Oregon from the daughter of the original owner in the condition that you see it today and it has been kept in a climate controlled garage at a seasonal home in northern Michigan. Every spring the car was serviced prior to the summer season to ensure mechanical fitness. The car holds the serial number of 161720, engine number of 717048, and a transmission number of 85399. These numbers have been verified to GR Auto Gallery by Porsche North America as numbers matching. The car is finished in its original factory color Signal Red over black interior with charcoal square weave carpeting. The car has been painted at some point prior to 1996 and it shows excellent. The interior remains extremely tidy, under the front bonnet remains original as does the engine bay and the undercarriage retains what appears to be its original coating. Mechanically, this 356 C is spot on. The 1600cc engine still features its Zenith Carbs with proper air cleaners. The car starts easy, idles smooth, and accelerates proper. The car remains nimble through the corners, suspension remains tight; in short this is a great driving example of what is considered by many as the best overall 356. The Porsche 356 is one of the most endeared vehicles ever made. The car has huge global demand and values continue to rise. They have reached icon states while remaining very driver friendly and usable. When it comes to investing in cars, quality and originality matters. The car offered here, while not freshly restored, is a great, usable example with the numbers in place. The car comes complete with owners handbook, tool role, and service history under the most recent ownership.
