1982 porsche 928s manual
1982 Porsche 928 Description
Porsche 928S,five speed manual dogleg gearbox.
Please be patient with the long winded description but I assure you it is worth it as I’ve tried to cover everything I can think a serious buyer would ask.
This car is in almost perfect condition
It has had 3 owners.First owner was a Rothschild family member who ordered and bought it off the Porsche factory floor. The second owner purchased the car from him in 2005 and i from him earlier in this year.
This is a very special vehicle for the following reasons. The original registration date of sale on this vehicle is listed as 00/00/1982 and listed as a 1982 model 928 but is in fact a 928S.The California DMV said that the reason for the peculiar registration date denotes an irregular or special type of vehicle import otherwise it would have an exact date of sale on the registration document.
The actual reason is that the Porsche 928S was not released in the United States until 1983.According to Porsche records, this car is said to be one of only 36 production prototypes in determining the design and final production version for the 1983S model to be debuted in North America.Half of these 36 were automatic and half were manual making this car one of 18 five speed manual pre-production models. The car came from the factory with its own set of Porsche bound factory repair manuals required for servicing.
Furthermore corroboration of the special order status of this car directly from the Porsche factory by its prominent first owner is that the US Vin database for imported vehicles lists this car as having a 3 speed automatic transmission with all grey charcoal interior, carpeting and all grey cloth bucket seats whereas in fact, it was ordered with and still has factory Installed hand stitched, two tone camel colored leather and interior.
It comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and clear title.
All work and service on this vehicle was done by Whaley brothers until it was taken to Arizona where Frank Beck, the Porsche racing driver took over all servicing.Since I purchased it,it has had a thorough inspection and comprehensive service, fluid and belt change as well as a compression test which showed all cylinders close to factory spec as possible. The car has been maintained impeccably over the years.Mechanically it is excellent. The motor and gearbox pull strong and perform as intended when new
An extremely expensive high end professional repaint in the correct factory color was commissioned by the second owner with full removal of all necessary trim and glass with no expense spared. This was done, not because the original paint was bad but purely because it was not perfectThe paint still shines like new with no marks or blemishes and you would never know it was redone if not told. It looks completely original in all respects. crevices, corners, doorjambs, sills, handles fittings etc etc.
The body is in amazing condition with absolutely no rust or marks and blemishes. The underneath of the car is as good as the top.All gauges, switches, windows, sunroof, lights and accessories etc work as they shouldAll glass is perfect. All rubber, spoilers, air dams and trim are perfectWheels and tires are excellent. The interior is in amazing condition with no cracks, stains marks or weird smells.
A 4000$(invoice) custom JLAudio (tier 1 brand) Sound system was custom installed by the second owner with custom panels for the speakers on door panels and boxed components in trunk under the retractable cover. It can easily be removed should one wish to do so returning the car door panels and trunk back to original.
A cutoff switch was installed which keeps the battery from draining during longer periods of inactivity.A security keypad has also been installed as seen on center console into which a security code has to be punched in order for the car to start
If you’re looking for the right 928 with no stories, this is it.This is a car for a person who wants the best, not for the cheap 928 seeker. You can bid confidently with absolutely no disappointments. This will definitely seem like a cheap purchase a few years from now.All reasonable questions and offers are welcomed.Any test as well as viewing is encouraged prior to purchase, not after.Don’t waste your time with low offers,I won’t respond.
