Introduced at Frankfurt in September 1959 the new 356 B ushered in the updated T-5 body style and a veritable multitude of finely detailed improvements marking a further step in the careful yet relentless evolution of Porsche's cornerstone 356-series models. The many updates heralded by the 356 B were far more than skin deep however. As stated by Ferry Porsche in the pages of Christophorus Porsche's official magazine "When we do change something we don't just make small alterations following...the dictates of fashion." Continuing he said "...our refinements - and sometimes these are very numerous - are very often invisible ones. The engine the road-holding the safety and the driving comfort: these things above all are the goal towards which we strive.”In 1962 the 356 B was updated to the celebrated 'T-6' body style which continued in use through the end of the 356 production run just a few years later in 1965. Among the many updates heralded by the T-6 body style the hood opening was now squared off up front the fuel-filler cap was relocated the rear decklid/engine cover now featured twin grilles for enhanced cooling and the windshield was enlarged to provide new fresh-air vents promoting improve airflow inside the car. While quite popular among Porsche's enthusiastic and growing customer base production of 356 B 'T6' Cabriolets for 1962-63 reached just 3100 units.
