The Air-cooled Porsche market is still hot, and we have a beautiful Blue 911T for your consideration. This California car came to us right from the Golden State looking great, and with a number of maintenance records and a log book. This is truly a car that has been enjoyed by enthusiasts in the past, and any air cooled Porsche collector should consider this car for their own collection.
Of course, this body style is the first generation after Porsche went away from the 356 body style. This car is powered by a 2.2L flat 6 mated to a 4 Speed manual transmission. This California car is finished in the original color of Gemini Metallic over black interior.
The creation of the Targa top for the '67 model year was Porsche's clever solution to the prospect that convertible cars may not be allowed to be sold in the US market due to crash regulations. As we now know, a ban of convertibles did not happen, but what came of the solution was a variation of the 911 that is still offered today. Porsche created a happy medium between a convertible, and T-Tops with the Targa. The Targa top pops out and folds to fit under the bonnet, so it's possible to have it with you at all times. The early Targas like this one, have a raw metal colored Targa 'bar' while later 911 Targas had a black Targa 'bar'. To go along with the Targa 'bar', a large curved pane of glass took the place of a rectangular shaped rear window, giving a more open feel all the time.
This car is finished in the factory correct, and attractive Gemini Metallic paint (code 8601-H). Chrome exterior trim and the raw metal Targa 'bar' really "pop" with that beautiful paint color. Classic Fuchs alloy wheels keep the styling simple with no exterior add ons on the car. The Gemini Metallic paint was applied a number of years ago, but still has a glossy finish. Bumpers, badging, and trim are in great condition. The Weather stripping along the Targa top area is a common trouble spot on the Targas, but on this car the seals are in great condition.
Inside the car, 911 interior styling is classic, and leaves you familiar with the layout. A few changes have been made to the original interior in the form of a Momo steering wheel, Porsche crest shift knob, and an Alpine stereo. Beyond those few things, the interior is just what you'd expect it to be. Seats, door panels, carpeting, dashboard, switches and knobs all show very well.
The 2.2L Flat 6 found in the boot has been treated to a recent engine rebuild. In addition to the engine rebuild, the transmission and other mechanical parts have been checked over and refreshed. A log book kept during the time period of 1988 to 2008 shows oil change intervals, other service intervals, and even gas fill-ups and their respective costs.
This California 911T is ready for the next sunny day. A cruise to the local cars and coffee or down some winding back roads will put a smile on your face, and grab the attention of other Porsche enthusiasts. This car is one to consider for any Porsche collector. Be sure to check out all the photos and video on our main website: Garage Kept Motors. Call if interested or e-mail with any questions.
