1968 Porsche 912 Description

Up for sale is a running and driving 912 project car that I am forced to sell as I'm losing my garage space. This isn't a purist's car but may be your chance to own a beautiful early Porsche for a fraction of what a restored example sells for.
Overall, this is a very solid southern CA car (no rusted out floors here!) but does have rust in the battery tray and in the U channel that the front tow is welded to. See pictures and ask me for more if there is a detail you want to see. Included with the car is brand new replacement metal to repair this one area. There was a small amount of rust in the rear passenger side seat bottom that has been repaired. Everywhere else from the floors, door bottoms, rocker panels, fender wells, bottoms of the windows, front 'smuggler's box', etc are all rust free.
This 4 speed car no longer has the original engine. Instead a built up 2.5L Type4 engine has been fitted with upright 911 style cooling, and a Tangerine Racing exhaust. The engine has been fired off for initial break in and some initial driving but has not been tuned yet.
Aside from the engine, there are a number of non stock changes made to the car including German metal rear fender flairs, updated headlights, fiberglass bumpers front and rear, and a replacement engine lid. This car was originally Bahama Yellow, was repainted red at some point and then painted its current white. The wide wheels are obviously not original and the new Toyo Proxes tires are too big and rub the fenders slightly.
Mechanically and electrically, the car is is in pretty good shape (the electro-mechanical clock works!) with some small things (like the e brake light and the fuel gauge) are not working.
Recent work includes:-New 2.5L Type4 engine with way too many upgrades to list. Not a stock part on it and built right.-New starter-New fuel pump-New Master cylinder-Newly rebuilt and plated calipers (rebuilt by PBM)-New rotors (vented rotors up front) with a small amount of surface rust from the car sitting-New flex lines-Rebuilt petal cluster with brass bushings-New steering wheel-Recovered front seats-New ignition switch-Rebuild headlight switch
There is more that is not coming to mind at the moment and there are details that are hard to put in an ebay listing like that beautiful 'ping' sound as the doors close. Feel free to give me a call any time between 8am-8pm PST at 760 707 3634 with any questions.
