1984 Porsche 944 Description
1984 Porsche 944 Coupe, black on black, 5-speed manual. I've had this car for about two years and I believe the odometer is accurate with 90799 miles. Shortly after I purchased it, the timing belt broke. Since then the car has received the following repairs and maintenance, with receipts for the parts:
Mechanical
Rebuilt head with new valve springsHead gasket and associated sealsNew water pumpNew timing belt
New fuel lines and fuel line valve
New fuel damper and fuel pressure regulatorNew intake bootNew spark plugsFresh oil and coolantNew intake boot
Wheels and tiresThe wheels are 16x8 Phone Dial Porsche wheels at all four corners, which gives it a very nice stance and look. The tires are brand new Riken Raptors sized 205/55 16 and 225/50 16
New front tie rods and fresh alignmentNew shift bootNew shift knob bushingsNew hatch strutsNew hood struts
Exterior
I believe the paint is original. There is no overspray anywhere on the car. There is no collision damage anywhere on the car and there is no rust. The paint has rock chips, minor scratches and some dings. There is a small dent on the rear fender near the hatch, which is pictured in the photos. The driver's door also has some dings near the front edge. There are a couple of small dings on the roof as well. All of the glass is in good shape. The windshield has a small rock chip.
Interior
The interior is in very nice shape. The black leather seats have no tears and are soft and comfortable. The seats are missing some of the handles, but they function fine. The carpet, headliner, door panels, rear seats and trunk trim are all in nice shape.
ProblemsThe air conditioning does not work. The turn signals are not currently working, but the hazards function. I checked the fuse, the relay and the turn signal switch and those all work, so I think the turn signals may have a bad ground. All other electrics function, including the windshield wipers, brake lights and headlights and the pop-up sunroof. The heater works great. The fuel pressure gauge does not read. There is an aftermarket stereo, but it does not function.
Overall this is nice example of an early 944 that could be taken to the next level by the new owner. The engine puts out good power and overall this car is very fun to drive. The car shifts well, brakes and handles good.
You can call me at 505-907-2111 if you would like to discuss the car on the phone. In person inspections and test drives are also welcome. The car is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
