1986 Porsche 944 Turbo w/ '88 Turbo S Engine
1986 Porsche 944 Description
NO RESERVE!! Selling my 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo. Car is located in Canada but it is a USA Car from Los Angeles. I have the CARPROOF/CARFAX report for your review, just message me for it - appears to be the same info as Experian on the eBay listing.I am willing to meet buyer or buyer-arranged transport carrier in Montana (on the USA/Canada border)... maybe other neighboring states as well at an additional cost (contact me first). Buyer is responsible for all importation and documentation charges that may apply, however I do not foresee any as this car is from USA.
The engine was replaced in 1997 with a true Turbo S engine from a 1988 944. Please see the attachedphoto with the letter of authenticity from Porscheciting boththe VIN of this Porsche and the VIN of the Turbo S Porsche with the engine stamp number - the motor was purchased from Kremer Racing in Atlanta Georgiain 1997 and was installed by Neumann Racing in Calgary, Alberta in December 1997.I do not know the precisemileage on the Turbo S motor except that it has at least 25,000 miles based on receipts. The original Turbo engine seized following an oil change wherein oil was not replaced... the Turbo S engine is out of Turbo S (the VIN in the authenticity letter) that was externally vandalized. If you are concerned about the true engine mileage you may be able to run a carproof on the donor VIN (WP0AA2956JN151599)and it may have the odometer reading there, and then add 25,000 miles.
The car has solid power, turbo boost, and does not feel old or tired from age. The suspension is in excellent condition and is firm and responsive. Clutch & brakes are very strong and have zero indication of wear. There is ZERO cracks in the dash, which is extremely rare! The car has been well looked after with Porsche-approved coolant and full synthetic oil, and has always been fed premium octane. The only changes made from factory original are the stereo deck was replaced with a period-correct Nakamichi and the starter was replaced with a hi-torque starter group-buy on Rennlist. The only issues with the car is the A/C needs recharging and occasionally if the engine is warm and you start it ~30 minutes after turning it off it requires a couple short ~5 second cranks. I've read online this is usually due to the flap in the mass airflow vane sticking and can be remedied by rubbing sandpaper around the flap to smooth it out. The hood has a couple minor tree sap yellowish stains that are difficult to notice, and the seats could be in better shape despite the age. Otherwise the car is in very exceptional shape throughout. The BBS rims are original and becoming difficult to find as most people have moved onto lower profile after-market rims. I have yet to see another white 944 with a burgundy+white interior, the pictures really do not do justice and the car always gets comments.
I have all receipts and paperwork going back to 1995 totaling over $100,000. I am the third owner and purchased in 2010 and have only put 5,000 miles on the car since then which is my reason for selling. There has been no police, accident, damage or insurance claims on the vehicle and it is free/clear of any liens. I will upload pictures from outside soon. Note that the photos of multiple pictures near the end of the gallery are photos from1997-1998 of the motor installation and the car at that point in time. I strongly encourage those interested to contact me through eBay and we can then text or message through WhatsApp and I will gladly answer all questions from there.
The car comes with original manual, original information brochures (including the Turbo S brochure), and 2 sets of keys with Porsche key-fobs. I will also include 2 dealership original framed posters of the 944 Turbo to hang in your garage!
