Here is my personal 1972 Porsche 914 with the matching 1.7 engine and 5 speed transmission.
Yes it's sunflower yellow and I found itunder a chicken coop in Maine 4 years ago where it sat in dry storage since 1988. "A real coop find." lol
Last Spring I finally got around to attempting to start it. I changed the oil, replaced the gas tank, cleaned the fuel lines, replaced the injectors and it started up and ran. Everything works except the odometer.
The floors and both trunks are totally rust free but we did replace the inner/outer rockers, jack posts, door sills anddoor jambs with new steel. A friend did the welding and paintwork. The chrome bumpers are nice but the rubber upper trim pieces are showing their years.
Beginning under the hood: The engine isvery well detailedoriginal air cooled 1.7 liter 4 cylinder mated to a correct 5 speed gearbox. Engine runs good and the transmission shifts great but there is an oil leak and the engine sometimes revs higher than normal at idle especially when warmed up.
The interior is original and very correct except for the door panels that are from a 76.
The dash is very nice with all of the correct switches, lighter, glovebox and dash pad. The dash pad has a very minor crack in the corner where the gauge pod dead ends.
The tires are excellent and all 4 calipers, master cylinder and proportioning valve were replaced. The brakes and handbrake work as they should. All lights and motors have been cleaned and tested.
All parts used were original genuine Porsche andonly the stainless steel outer rockers areaftermarket.
