1989 Rolls-Royce Corniche II Convertible Description

Nostradamus said in 1548.
"From Albion's shore shall come a marvelous conveyance, a
carriage silincieux bearing the arms of Rolles De Roi."

Albion (Ancient Greek) is the oldest known name of the island of Great Britain and from its shores come this immaculate One Owner Rolls Royce - 1989 was the last year to be hand built. This particular one has never been in the rain. Leather Bound Books- Chrystal Decanter and Glasses behind locking wood partition on drivers and passenger side doors all included in the sale. The chrome Hood figurine-Spirit of Ecstasy- derived from the Grande Corniche, the touring road high above the Mediterranean between Nice and Monte Carlo leads this stunning chrome grille made entirely by hand and eye - no measuring instruments are used. Essentially being the coupe and convertible versions of the Silver Shadow, the Rolls-Royce Corniche continued the use of the Shadow's unibody construction. The car was smaller and squarer than earlier models, though the Corniche was aimed at buyers who insisted on coachbuilt bodies. The Mulliner Park Ward design took four months to build. Two weeks alone were spent just creating the convertible's navy blue top. an engine that is completely hand built even today, 6,750-cc, Bosch fuel-injected OHV V-8, the Cornich, despite its weight of almost three tons, topped out at 120 mph, with 0-60 mph reached in fewer than ten seconds. At one time, Rolls-Royce engines held World Speed Records in the Air, on Land and on Water, simultaneously. The self-leveling suspension was based on the Citroen hydraulic system and the Corniche employed power disc brakes, like the Shadow. Only 1,234 examples of the Corniche II were produced.

History 1884-Rolls-Royce grew from the electrical and mechanical business established by Henry Royce in 1884. Royce built his first motor car in 1904 and in May of that year met Charles Rolls, whose company sold quality cars in London. Agreement was reached that Royce Limited would manufacture a range of cars to be exclusively sold by CS Rolls & Co – they were to bear the name Rolls-Royce.
The Rolls-Royce Corniche is a two-door, front-engine, rear wheel drive five-seater manufactured and marketed by Rolls-Royce as a coupé and convertible from 1971 to 1995.The Corniche was a development of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, with the two door variants of that model marketed as the "Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward two door fixed head coupé & drop head coupé" from 1966 until when the Corniche name was applied. The exterior design was by John Polwhele Blatchley. The model was assembled and finished in London at Mulliner Park Ward as continuation of the 1965 Silver Shadow coupe and 1966 drophead, with the Corniche name applied in March 1966. The Corniche was also sold as a Bentley, though that model became known as the Continental in 1984.The first car with the Corniche nameplate was a 1939 prototype based on the Bentley Mark V and never produced because of the onset of World War II.
