Introduced in April 1955, the Silver Cloud represented a watershed for Rolls-Royce. In the past, all Rolls-Royce cars were delivered as an intact chassis, ready for a body from one of the many, usually English, coachbuilders. A changing industrial process coupled with an austere postwar economy saw Rolls-Royce transition into producing cars complete with a body from the factory. With the Silver Cloud, bespoke bodies officially became a rarity and the cars were fully developed in-house.The Silver Cloud III arrived in 1963 and featured many technological improvements over its predecessor. The engine, while maintaining the 6.2 L displacement from the Silver Cloud II, featured larger carburetors and an increased compression ratio resulting in about 220 hp. The weight of the car was reduced by over 200 lbs, and by the end of its production run in 1966, fewer than 3,000 models in all variants were made. This car, chassis N9LSGT, was adored and loved for many years, frequently used, well maintained, garage kept, and last but not least, was given the oh so expensive bare metal re-spray. But, unfortunately, the owner's husband passed away and the car has been sitting for the past five years. It's well known that these Rolls Royce beauties were not made to merely sit, and some tender loving care will be needed to bring her back to those glorious days. The paint is in very good condition along with the chrome. The wood is also in good condition with no signs of cracking. Most of the interior is original and showing some age. The same can be said about the engine compartment. In summary, if you consider the condition of the paint, brightwork, and structural integrity, it's easy to see that there is great value in this iconic vehicle.
