1964 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud James Young Sport Saloon Description

1964 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III James Young Sport Saloon finished in Black with a Black interior. (Left hand drive) a 6.23L V8 engine producing 246hp and backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission. This magnificent piece of history stands as one of the rarest Rolls Royce automobiles available. The Silver Cloud III is regarded as the finest model built in the Silver Cloud series. Introduced in 1959, the Silver Cloud II was the first Rolls Royce to beat the...likes of Bentley in production numbers and serve as one of the bestselling luxury cars at the time. It was quoted as a car with effortless speed and extreme quietness with a V8 engine. In 1962, the Silver Cloud III was introduced carrying the same V8 engine with more power and boasting a new design. Contemporary trends led to four headlights, a lower hood and radiator shell, and smaller bumpers. The interior was less pre-WWII design and featured a padded rail above the dash, separate front seats (no longer a bench seat), and more leg room in the front and back. This was luxury at its best. Ending in 1965, the Silver Cloud marked the end of the Coach built series of cars for Rolls Royce as they moved in the direction of building cars as they do today. This particular example features an aluminum body, twin SU carburetors, power steering, power brakes, full Webasto roll-back sunroof, fog lamps, back-up lamps, steel wheels with stock wheel covers, black wall radial tires, aftermarket A/C (blows cold), all leather wrapped interior, power front windows, wool carpeting and headliner, front and rear folding armrests, rear seat map lights, remote fuel filler release, updated braking system via frame-mounted electric booster, updated with electronic ignition, updated engine mounts to reduce vibration, supplemental electric cooling fan, and quartz clock movement.Recent work was completed at Vantage Motor Works in Miami. FL and Crown Hill Automotive in Seattle, WA including rebuilt engine/transmission/rear end/carburetors, new exhaust, rebuilt suspension, re-cored radiator, overhauled and recharged heating and A/C, and all wiring re-sorted as necessary. Work was completed between 2011 and 2014 with over $105k in receipts on file.It comes with a reproduction owner's book, tools, jack and aftermarket head unit. It is believed to be 1 of 21 James Young Saloons built.
