Based on the Silver Shadow II, the Silver Spur and its short-wheelbase counterpart, the Silver Spirit, were announced in the fall of 1980. While the power unit remained Rolls-Royce’s familiar 6,750cc V8, significant improvements were made to self-leveling rear suspension and the styling was revised with a more modern angular look. Interior appointments remained to the exacting standards and exquisite materials of the finest leather and wood veers.
The car offered has been enjoyed by just a single family from new. Owned originally by a Los Angeles couple, the car was meticulously maintained and sparingly used until passing to their daughter, a southern California doctor. Now, showing just 37,100 miles, the car is being offered to the market for the first time.
In original and untouched condition, the original two-tone paint bears a minimal number of blemishes conducive with age and mileage. Wheels are scuff-free and shod with good tires. Brightwork and glass are also in excellent condition.
The interior shows similar and very minimal wear to all surfaces. The original leather is soft and supple and wood veneer is unmarked throughout, save minor chipping on the driver’s door cap from the seatbelt.
The car has been meticulously maintained and is accompanied by a substantial file of receipts from service work carried out at Rolls-Royce Beverly Hills, who exclusively maintained the car from new. Over $10,000 has been spent since 2012, and attention given to many mechanical systems on the car, including brakes, suspension, charging system and all services. The result is wonderful driving car. The suspension feels taut, brakes are powerful and the car drives as a Rolls-Royce should. The engine is in a fine state of tune and the car shifts perfectly through all gears. All electrical systems work perfectly and the AC blows cold.
This wonderful Silver Spirit, with its impeccable ownership history, full compliment of tools and books/manuals, has been very obviously lovingly cared for, regardless of cost, and as such, represents a rare opportunity to own a car of this era in need of nothing.
