I purchased this Saab c900 last year as a project car for my daughter to drive when she turns 16. I decided it was not going to be practical for a 16 year old. In the end I did more work than I had originally planned and this is the break down (This is a very long list):
Rust Issues!!!!! I consider this to be one of the most important factors with classic cars. I can say with 100% confidence that any rust on this Saab is surface rust, I have inspect every square inch of this Saab and you will have no issues with rust.
Engine: New head-gasket, all new wiring in the engine bay,new alternators, new water pump, new bushings for the alternator, new belts, cleaned and lubed all belt pulleys, new seals for the water pump, cleaned the engine, replaced the fuel rail and fuel injectors, replaced fuel line, replace turbo with rebuild turbocharger, replaced all turbo lines that needed replacing, replaced turbo gaskets, replaced turbo washers, replaced the exhaust system with new system, replaced engine oil. I am also including additional engine parts, idle control valve, AC compressor, a bunch of turbo related parts.
New Exhaust (as mentioned above)
Suspension and Brakes: New shocks all 4 corners, new brakes, new rotors, the calipers were dismantled, clean, and lubed, all new brake pads, new brake fluid, the system was cleaned several times and bled. ABS relays were replaced, I also have an additional ABS module that will come with the car. The front suspension is completely new, new bushings, new tie rod ends, new sway bar bushings, new power steering rack, new bushings on rack, new PS lines, everything cleaned and reassembled, new PS fluid, new PS pump, no leaks and the PS system works like new. Engine idles, runs and drives with no issues. (The car really needs to be driven!)
Transmission: rebuild 12K ago (buyer might want to replace fluid), cooling lines checked and cleaned.
Interior: The carpets were pulled, the floor was cleaned and sprayed with a rust prevention paint, carpets were cleaned, interior under back seat cleaned, all wiring checked, the seats are from a 2006 VW Passat, direct bolt in (the original seats were really bad) The seats have been wired for power and work with no issues, they slide back and forth and work like OEM seats. Original seats can be installed with no issues if the buyer wants to make the change. No modifications have been made to the floor pan. Dash has one small crack, all buttons, switches are working.
Convertible Top: The convertible top was replaced from a donor car and is in excellent condition, all components on the top were checked, cleaned and lubed. The top goes up and down with no issues, latched into place as it should. The headliner is in good shape, no tears or wear.
The exterior: The exterior is in average condition, the car could use a paint job but I see the car more as a driver and not a show car. I got a quote of 3500 for a professional paint job, keeping the car the same color. The Saab also comes with the SPG side panels (I do not have the bumper extensions as the original owner misplaced them) The trunk was cleaned and repaired any issues with the carpet, all lights work, signal, fog, high beams, interior, trunk, etc.
New Tires
Note: The Saab will come with 3 different head units (radios) you can decide which one you want to install, the speakers have not been installed but will come with the car (the wiring is all present). I misplaced one of the 4 inch speakers for the dash so you will need to source another one. The SRS (airbag light is on, I ordered a new clock-spring and they sent me the wrong one) The horn was working last week but the wire in the dash somehow came loose and the horn is not working (I should have time to fix this). The front windshield needs to be replaced (I got a quote of 150) The windshield washer lines have not been installed but will be included with the car, the passenger side door handle is loose, not sure if it needs to be replaced? I can source a new one if needed.
I hope someone has the opportunity to enjoy this car as it was a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get it where it is today. The c900 is not perfect but I will be a good solid driver for someone who wants to enjoy it!
