BODYWORK/TRIM
From inception, ackdraft cars are turnkey products developed and engineered to mimic the vintage appeal of authentic aluminum Cobras while handily out-performing pretty much anything on the street. The assembly of this roadster's professionally finished body began with a steel-lined GRP molding that was hand-tweaked and gel coated on a full-size rotisserie rack. Once that coating was complete, he newly formed fuselage was smoothed by a seasoned fiberglass professional, aked in an even coat of primer and inspected top-to-bottom to ensure first-class quality. When quality control was cleared, lean Vapor Metallic PPG was detailed with Olive war paint, overed in three layers of ChemSpec clear, aked and cured for three days, nd finally, lattened and polished to a head turning shine. And today, his super slick Cobra is a sophisticated build that exhibits twice the style and twice the race-bred DNA of a typical replicar boulevard cruiser.
Following the successful launch of their P-51 Mustang series, ome of the most sought-after and collectible tuner Mustangs ever created, ackdraft Racing armed another storied American fighter with this P51 themed Cobra. And, s if you couldn't tell, heir WW2-themed aesthetics look absolutely stunning on this roadster's sublime and curvaceous body. At the front of the car, sculpted and re-angled nose hangs black-trimmed headlights above clear, ullet-style parking lamps and Satin Black quick lifts. A riveted hood anchors a small, ROUSHCHARGED" scoop in front of locking latches and Satin Black windshield wipers. Behind that hood, tinted, ackdraft-branded windshield hangs a small mirror and 'Jack Roush' branded wind wings in front of a tight top, Satin Black roll bar and a familiar, onza-style fuel filler. At the sides of the car, onochromatic exhaust pipes ride below stylized Roush emblems, olor-keyed air extractors and 3M quarter guards. And at the back of the car, lack-trimmed tail lamps combine with a black tag light to illuminate a locking trunk handle and a second pair of Satin Black quick lifts.
ENGINE
Like most Roush-branded creations, his Cobra features a supercharged and intercooled 4.6 liter Ford 'mod motor'. But, nlike most run-of-the-mill Roush mod motors, hat engine, nstalled by the pros at Speed Fanatix of Boynton Beach, lorida, akes an incredible 600 horsepower! The TVS Technology ROUSHcharger is an Eaton-style blower that successfully manages on-track temperatures thanks to an air-to-liquid intercooler. At the side of that blower, large induction system snakes around an Olive Green alternator and Aeromotive fuel componentry. Below that blower, high performance Roush intake complements satin fuel rails, ellow Accel coil packs and Olive Green cam covers. At the front of that blower, lightweight aluminum radiator utilizes an Olive water neck and polished tubes to circulate coolant around a large puller fan and polished overflow tank. Even though Ford's go-to V8 is a very strong engine as is, his one has been supplemented with a beefier cooling system and recalibrated ECM. Aesthetically, he spotless mill features a typical OEM-level appearance that's set off by an array of clean accents. And, hen you twist its key, ou'd better be sure you've clicked your belts!
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
When it's time to put your hair in the wind, orget about outdated Toploader 4-speeds because this modern-day Cobra blisters the pavement with a fresh Tremec TKO600 5-speed. That world-class transmission delivers power to a 3.46 limited-slip BMW rear end that creates whiplash-inducing acceleration while still allowing the car to loaf along at highway speeds. That drivetrain, hich is bolted to a hot-rolled rectangular steel ladder-type chassis, ends power through the same BMW-sourced MacPherson strut front and fully independent rear suspension that's become a Backdraft hallmark. And thanks to that suspension's adjustable front stabilizer bar, ully adjustable rear ride height and BMW power steering system, ou're getting a Cobra that has a performance threshold capable of humiliating much more expensive hardware. Brakes are drilled and slotted discs at all four corners that, hanks to this car's featherweight construction, re virtually impervious to fade. And there's simply nothing that looks better on a Cobra than a set of Halibrand-style wheels, hich spin aggressive Nitto radials around yellow Wilwood calipers.
INTERIOR
P-51-branded bomber seats, hich are complete with 4-point Crow Enterprizes harnesses, orm the foundation for this roadster's interior; and are a massive aesthetic upgrade over the puffy shells you'll find in most replicas. In front of those seats, Vapor and Olive dash frames pushbutton start, illet accessory knobs, snazzy Jack Roush signature and Moal aircraft-style gauges in a slick, arbon fiber-look instrument panel. At the sides of that dash, raditional fiberglass doors are covered in a rich combination of leather and suede. At the bottom of those doors, intage-look carpet, hich is protected by color-keyed Backdraft Racing floor mats, rames billet foot pedals, leather-booted emergency brake and an attractive BDR shifter. In front of the driver, stylish wood steering wheel spins satin-finish spokes around a BDR horn button. And behind the passengers, fully finished trunk hides a Backdraft battery behind a surprisingly large amount of storage space.
