1965 Shelby Cobra Description

This Backdraft Racing (BDR) RT 3 roadster (BDR build number 156) is the product of the Backdraft Racing facility, which has a reputation for high quality, custom built, authentic replicas of the 1965 Shelby Cobras. Backdraft Racing Inc. was founded in January of 2001 by 2 world champion auto racers.
This car, a rolling chassis, was shipped from the BDR factory without an engine/drive train to California Cobra, where it received a small block 351 Windsor - Hot 418 (stroked to 418), a Holley 770 Street Avenger carburetor, and a 5 speed Tremec transmission.
The RT 3 roadster is not a kit car, but is a production line-manufactured component vehicle, supplied in various stages, allowing the customer or chosen mechanic to complete the task.
For example, the BMW racing suspension with power brakes, power steering and full independent rear suspension permits a roadster to drive with as much excitement as the RT 3's artful design promises. The color is titanium with black racing stripes. In this car, standard rolling chassis features plus other items include:
ceramic coated headers,
fuel pump,
300 GT mirror,
wiring harness,
gauge hook-up,
T shifter,
hand-laid fiberglass,
leather seats,
wind wings and sun visors,
15-inch alloy wheels and tires,
polished spinners,
aluminum radiator,
independent rear suspension,
Le Mans style lockable fuel filler,
Custom soft vinyl top,
heater fabricated to fit,
active stainless steel side pipes merge (authentic "looks" and "sounds" with 21st century craftsmanship)
4-wheel power assist disc brakes,
rack and pinion steering,
thermostatically controlled dual fans,
stainless steel roll bar,
stainless steel quick jacks,
leather interior (seats and dash front),
AutoMeter gauges,
custom steering wheel,
stainless steel shifter,
15" Halibrand style wheels (15 x 8 front, 15 x 11 rear).
The Holley 770 carburetor had trouble with the high altitude so it was replaced by EZ EFI in April, 2011, which successfully achieved the advantages of fuel injection.
This Cobra won a People's Choice Award at the August 2011 Prescott Antique Auto Club Car Show.
