1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C Description

This is a 1965 Shelby 427 S/C Cobra roadster. It is a 6000 Series Continuation car. I am the original owner. I took delivery in 2012. It has approximately 3,000 well pampered miles. Fair weather car only, no rain/snow. Sunday afternoon ride, never raced, always garaged. This baby is impeccable. The car features a fiberglass body over a tube chassis and is finished n F1 Rosso Red with Navy/Wimbledon white stripes, Navy "pit crew stripes", and black interior. The car is offered with a documented build log, service records, a clear Louisiana Title as a 1965 Shelby Cobra in the seller's name.
The engine was built by the late Bill Parham of Southern Automotive in McDonough, GA. It features a NOS 1968 427 FE side oiler cast iron block with a date code of 2L26. A stroker kit pushed the engine to 484 ci, producing 518 hp and 569 lb-ft of torque. Here's a list of main components:- Edelbrock "Performer RPM"aluminum heads- 2.250" SS intake valves, 1.750"exhaust valves- Holley 750 com double pumper carb- Edelbrock "Victor FE" aluminum single-plane intake manifold- Eagle Specialty Products crankshaft- Eagle Specialty Products H-beam Competition connecting rods with ARP bolts- Keith Black high performance forged pistons, 10:1 compression ratio- Hastings moly, hand-filed piston rings- Southern Auto motive custom grind solid lifter camshaft- TRW aluminum roller-type rocker arms- Edelbrock double-row timing chain set- Melling high-volume aluminum oil pump- Aviad 9-qt. oil pan with windage tray- Edelbrock high-volume aluminum water pump- March billet aluminum water and crankshaft pulleys- Carter high-volume fuel pump- Ford centrifugal advanced electronic distributor- Blue Thunder valve covers- 4-core aluminum radiator
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-sp. Ford NASCAR Top Loader transmission, RAM Performance clutch and flywheel, and a Salisbury differential 3.54:1 ratio. Vehicle features a 4" round-tube frame with dual A-arm suspension, fitted with Bilstein coilovers. 12" Baer racing brakes with "Shelby" Calipers all around. Exhaust pipes are powder coated black. Steering is rack-and-pinion. Car has powder coated quick jacks mounting points with yellow painted tow hooks front and back.
The interior is black and also period correct. Black carpeted floors join black vinyl seats with 4-pt. harnesses. A set of Shelby logo floor mats come with the car. All gauges are period correct, including the "reversed" speedometer. A 12v outlet has been added for further convenience. A fire extinguisher and battery are mounted in the back of the cockpit behind the seats. Battery has emergency cut-off. The steering wheel is a wooden three-spoke Moto-Lita, and there is a "RayDyot" period correct single mirror in the center. The car currently has no windshield as a personal choice, but it can be re-installed if new owner so wishes. A pair of "RayDyot" mirror match the center one and can be added to the side frames of the windshield, or the owner may prefer to have the original wind wings installed instead. Also, the car currently has an aftermarket custom built leather and cloth competition seat, that is fixed in its position. The seat is not included in the sale, and can be swapped with the original vinyl one that matches the passenger's side. It is available for purchase.
Headlight assembly has been upgraded to HID-like H4 ("Lighting White" brand) bulbs, and tri-bar style housings that improve visibility and safety. Rear lights have been upgraded to LED's. A protective 3M clear bra is present on the front and leading edges of rear fenders.
The car also come with a custom full-width roll bar, powder coated black, built by the car's finisher Olthoff Racing in Mt. Ulla, NC. The original single driver's side roll bar comes with the car.
Finally the car comes with one of two sets of wheels/tires. Owner can chose between Wimbledon White painted Halibrand type shod in Goodyear "Billboards", or the FIA 289 type shod in Avon Comp Radials. The remaining set is available for purchase.
This is a well sorted, absolutely stunning Shelby Continuation car, ready to be enjoyed. I has provided me with long hours of entertainment and fulfillment. If you have been thinking about buying the Cobra of your dreams, you know current day prices for a fiberglass roller is $33,000 more than 5 years ago, power/drivetrain cots are up and finishing costs are also higher, plus it takes the average new owner an average of 2 years from placing the order to driving one. This car is ready to go. Don't pay more and don't wait a minute longer.
