These 1969/70 Shelby’s were much different than all the rest of the Shelbys. They were the ONLY Shelby to have fiberglass front fenders. The front bumper was also unique to these cars. With the addition of the fiberglass front fenders, it was possible to make the car longer and sleeker looking plus design a totally different hood for the car. If you look at the rear of the car you will notice a fiberglass trunk plus fiberglass rear brake scoops which are functional.
Another feature that was unique to these cars was the exhaust which came through the rear valance panel and made great sounds when accelerating or just idling. It has the same type of roll bar that was started in 1968 with the GT 350 and GT 500 Convertibles.
I actually looked at this car for a customer and to me it was by far the nicest 69/70 GT 350 available at the time!! I personally flew out of state to look and inspect it as it was very expensive. Although it looked basically perfect, I wanted to put my eyes and hands on the car. I was not disappointed. Besides it being nearly perfect, it was also very desirable in that it was the ONLY MAROON AND WHITE SHELBY GT 350 CONVERTIBLE BUILT IN 1970!! The color, as you can see for yourself, is very striking.
Besides all this, it was the subject of a very nice Rotisserie Restoration. I have included pictures of the car in various stages of its complete restoration. As you know this is a very expensive process. Many restoration facilities charge over $100,000 to do this kind of work.
As you know, 1970 was the last year for the original Shelbys. There were only 318 total GT 350’s made. They ONLY made 57 Convertibles. Only 30 of those were customized. Only ONE was painted Maroon with White Interior. This is that car! The unbelievable condition; the fact that it was the only one built AND how fantastic it looked was the reason I told the customer to buy this car. I have the Deluxe Marti Report from Ford that authenticates all of this information.
The 1969/70 Shelby Register thought enough of the car and its condition that this Shelby was selected to have additional picture of it on Page 1463 of the new Registry.
The customer did not want to buy something that needed extensive work. He wanted to buy something he could drive right away. I did end up doing some detailing to the engine compartment. I am very particular on these matters. I will show you in pictures soon of the detailing that we did to the car.
Something I want to make sure of the I reiterate from earlier is that this car has one of the very expensive Ford exhaust systems. I will soon have pictures of it so you can see how nice it is.
This car is not presently a “Trailer Queen”, as it has been driven. Trailer Queens are cars that have been restored and then put in the trailer and NOT DRIVEN!! So, although most people would call this Shelby a trailer queen, it really is not. So, you can drive it and enjoy it and win car shows with it! I did take it to a very large well-known local car show that has been that been on various Television programs. I will include a picture of me receiving a Trophy for the car.
If you are interested in this car, I would love to talk to you about it and give you even more information about the car. I would also possibly take a car in trade it is something I am interested in!
I encourage interested Buyers to personally inspect this Shelby or have someone inspect it for them.
