1953 Studebaker Champion Coupe - No Engine, rough!, rat rod or parts car base?
1953 Studebaker Champion Starlight Coupe mostly missing Description
I am listing this for a friend that has owned it for about 25 years. It was purchased with the intent to make a rat rod but it has become a lost project.
The photos tell the story best. It has sat outside for the time he has owned it and some of the trim was stolen over the years.
There are still some salvageable and/or reparable parts on the car. the years outside have not been kind but it has been parked on a paved lot so not sinking into a field somewhere. There are a few miscellaneous parts inside the car that do not belong to it and are not included in the sale. The front seat/frame is one of those items not included.
The pot metal trim where still intact is very pitted. the stainless pieces are straight and very usable but scarce. Front and rear bumpers are in okay shape. front bumper looks like it may have a few extra holes drilled to mount it but is overall straight. Rear bumper is straight but has 2 cuts at the center bottom to allow a 4 to 5 inch wide area to be bent to accommodate a trailer hitch. This looks fixable to me. The rear bumper license surround is in god shape. Minor effort needed and re-chrome to make nice. The dash has all the gauges after wiping the dust off the lens (see pic) and they appear to be in reasonably good condition. No knowledge of the condition of them or if they function.
The goal is to sell this to someone who can haul it away and maybe save some or all of this dying classic.
These are desirable cars in almost any condition. The car has a clear title. The body tag and serial number are shown in the pictures.
No engine as mentioned earlier. Some parts exist in the engine compartment that may be usable or repairable (wiper motor, coil...)
I can take additional pictures if needed but may take a little bit as I don't have access to the lot except during business hours.
I know a bit about Studebaker's and 1953's even more.
Please ask questions prior to bidding. No refunds or returns.
This is not a functioning vehicle in its current condition and will require a trailer to haul it.
There are 3 wheels with tires on the car (although flat) and a tire on a rim in the trunk.
It is located in Northtown Kansas City, Missoury (just north of the river, north of downtown KC,MO)
Contact me with any questions. I will do my best to answer all questions.
Thank you for your interest.
