This car says a lot about what are car should be. I have had the car for about a year and it was my intention to have it fully restored as it Hog Throghs are in excellent condition. The car was owned in rural Viginia since new. The car has been owned by one family since new and got passed down from generation to generation. There were on a total of 570 4 speed car during the 1963 and 1964 model years. To find one with these other rare options is near impossible. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND DUE TO HEALTH REASONS THE CAR WILL BE SOLD TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER WITH NO RESERVE !!
The vehicle has been made and assembled entirely in September 1962 in the Studebaker Factory in South Ben, Indiana. It is one of only 213 units built in September 1962. It has its original 289 V-8 Studebaker engine which runs incredibly well. The car drives excellent as most of its components are working perfectly.
As you can see it still has its Virginia special licence plates which define its pedigree. I have elected to let it go as I have many commitments and lack the time to see it through is restoration process. Judging from the miles and the condition of the car, it has been cared for very well, it has also been kept in a climate controlled garage. The car is being offered to the highest bidder with NO RESERVE.
I am in possession of its build sheet which is documented from the Studebaker National Museum which includes copies of so much information, I have the owners guide which was preserved in plastic. I have an entire Studebaker Avanti production data compiled by the National Archives in South Ben, Indiana. Finally I have several keys for the car, one which appears to be the original key as well as an entire Avanti workshop manual. The car is worth doing a minor restoration as it runs so well, it would be money well spent.
The engine is an exceptional condition as the car has no known problems. The transmission shifts like a new car. The car runs great! The engine compartment is clean, and free of any leaks. The air conditioning blows cold. All the electrical options appear to be in working order. The car also has power steering, new tires, and also has the hill holder option which appears to be functioning just fine.
As you can judge for yourself from the pictures - the interior is quite good. There are some splits on the passenger seat which can be seen in the many photos in this listing. The car is fast becoming a classic as the value of the car is ripe for a huge upswing. To reproduce this car would be difficult.
This is your chance to own a truly unique piece of American history and a VERY RARE one that stands out. Please see the current price trends in the listing as the car probably doubles in value from here within several years.
