For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is this 1931 Studebaker Model 54. Also known as the Studebaker Six, or Studebaker Standard Six, the Model 54 was the entry level Studebaker. However, they were named the Standard Six as Studebaker believed that their vehicles were the standard that other manufactures should be held to when making their vehicles. It has been said that Studebaker's offered the quality of a Cadillac, but for the price of a Ford, and Studebaker had a reputation for building quality and reliable vehicles. With this example still on the road more than 85 years after it was made, we think that reputation is more than deserved. This Model 54 is equipped with what is believed to be the original 205 CID straight 6 cylinder engine. This motor produced an impressive, for the time, 70 hp. While also available as a 4 door sedan, roadster, 4 door open touring, and 2 passenger coupe, this model is the 4 passenger coupe with the always cool rumble seat in the rear. Since this vehicle has been garaged since it was purchased new in 1931, restoration needs were kept to a minimum. The vehicle was repainted in 1966 and reupholstered in 1967. The most major work that was completed was a repaired cylinder head in 1998, with receipts for the work done. Other than that, this pampered vehicle has just been lovingly cared for. If you are a fan of Pre-War American cars, but want to stand out from the Ford's and Chevy's, then your Chariot has arrived. Studebaker's are getting more and more rare every year, especially when you get back to the very old ones like this.
