1964 Studebaker Hawk Gran Turisimo Description

Up for sale near Sacramento CA is a rare 1964 Studebaker Hawk Gran Turisimo. Only 1,484 were built in 64, and 300 of those were exported. (Canada and Australia.) According to the Hawk Registry, it is likely that less than 600 of the 1964 models remain in the U.S.
This cool looking car runs and drives, and turns heads everywhere it goes. The registration is current and the car is tagged in California through April of 2019. Power comes from the original 289 cubic inch Studebaker V8 (not a Ford) and shifting is done with a manual transmission. ("Three on the tree.") The overdrive works, effectively making this a 6-speed manual car!

Almost every part of the brakes have been replaced, and there was a previous upgrade to power brakes. Other upgrades include electronic ignition, electric fuel pump, and a brand-new 12 volt GM alternator.
This was purchased new on October 18, 1963 - we have the original purchase loan document. The payoff was completed on April 25, 1966. The payments were only $66.40 a month!
This Hawk went to Arizona and then Nevada, and then it came to California in 1991 where it has lived ever since. We don't many other documents, but we believe that the odometer is accurate, and this car has 85,000 original miles.
The original owners manual is included. The front fenders are fiberglass, from the factory. The car has new tires on vintage "Rocket" wheels. (I don't have the original wheels or hubcaps.)
The stainless steel trim on this car is in remarkable good shape.
Now for some of the less-than-perfect items; a lot of the clear coat has come off the finish, so up close the paint looks pretty bad. (This is the second paint job. Car was originally the light brown color.) I am told that the pictures make the car look better than it really is. Please keep that in mind. There is some visible rust, plus there is some bubbling under the paint in several places. There are several rust holes in the floor. The interior was replaced in the 1990's and it needs to be replaced again.
All of the gauges work except engine temperature. (I have a BRAND-NEW factory temp gauge, still in a Studebaker box.) The speedometer works, but it "wobbles." Occasionally the transmission "pops out" of second gear when you are coasting. The headliner has completely degraded. There is surface rust on the metal under the headliner. (Same in the trunk.)
This car is a sharp-looking vehicle to start on as a project. Complete, running / driving Studebakers are getting much harder to find. Clean / clear title in hand, in my name. I will work with your shipper to get the car loaded, and I can meet them in Sacramento.
The car can be viewed locally at almost any time. Call / text / email Morgan. 530-320-3233.

The car is for sale locally, and I reserve the right to sell it before the auction ends. Thanks for looking!
