1949 Studebaker Pickup Truck Rat Rod Runs Drives Great! Real Patina Truck!!
1949 Studebaker 2R10 Ford Chevy Studebaker Rat Rod Pickup Description
Meet Lucille!
Absolutely one of a kind. This is a 1949 Studebaker Boom Truck that had been resting in an Oklahoma salvage since 1968!!! We cut the cab off and began the slow process of bringing her back to life.
This is one well built Rat and very reliable. Cab is mounted to a 1982 GMC S15 Pickup frame. The frame has been professionally shortened and lowered for a great stance. The S15 provides all the modern conveniences. It has a disc brake front end with power steering! All new brake lines, master cylinder, and power booster. And we added a proportioning valve if you want to show off and light em up.
And the Chevy 305 V8 will definitely light em up!! We took a low miles used motor (approx 60k) and spruced it up with a ton of goodies. Brand new polished Edelbrock 4bbl Carburetor, new headers and complete exhaust system with Glass Packs and turn downs. Sounds incredible. All new ignition components. Brand new plugs wires cap and rotor. All the wiring in the truck has been replaced. The 700r automatic shifts just like it should.
The cab is just like we found it. No body work has been done at all. This is an all original real patina truck. It is rusty and crusty and has holes in all the usual places. I have tons of photos of how we found the truck in the salvage if you would like to see them. I had new windshields put in and I have all the new glass for the doors if you want to install them. All the lights and turn signals work. The inside door handles work but of course they are sticky. Outside door handles are broken. This is a TRUE RAT ROD not a $100,000 build. It takes both feet and both hands to drive it. It is rough and tough and not a pretty boy toy.
The bed is just as unique as the truck itself. The stake bed is custom made from 110 year old rough sawn Red Oak salvaged from the St. James Hotel in Inola Oklahoma (that I own). The wood is just absolutely beautiful and unfinished. I have never taken the finished truck out in the rain. The bed looks like it just came off the saw mill 110 years ago!
The truck is currently titled and registered in my name with up to date Oklahoma tags. I drive it at least once a week. It is registered as a 1949 Studebaker. I have copies of the original title and the last registration in 1968. The VIN # on the cab was completely illegible and rotted away so I had to have a new one fabricated. It looks just like the original. If you are concerned about that please don't bid on the truck.
Please keep in mind this is a RAT ROD in the truest sense of the word. It cost me a small fortune to build it but it does not look or act like a new vehicle. It is loud, has no weather stripping no air conditioning and the heater is not hooked up. (although it does have a very cool Chicago dash heater). It takes both feet to drive due to the positioning of the gas and brake.
This has been by far the most fun vehicle I have ever owned. It gets thumbs up everywhere we go. If you want to get into a very unique rat for a fraction of what it would cost to build it yourself this is the one. That being said this truck is sold AS IS with absolutely no warranty of any kind. I will be happy to work with your shipper. Feel free to call or text me with any questions.
