Studebaker concluded their long run of vehicle production in early March 1966. The Cruiser was their "top of the line" 4-door sedan and this car is an excellent original low mileage, 47,350, example. All 1966 Studebaker cars were built in their Hamilton, Ontario facility and this car came off of the production line on August 23, 1965. It was sent to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for their dealer new car showing and from there it was sent to a dealer in California. Later, it was resold and moved to Arizona.
The body is clean of any signs of rust anywhere including the floorboards, trunk and body. The only apparent rust is a small hole beneath the battery where acid was apparently spilled. This is only visible when the battery is removed. The vinyl top was an option in 1966 and was recently replaced along with the body being repainted. The body is very straight with a minimal number of imperfections in the paint. There is a very small dent on the lower left door that is hardly noticeable.
The luxurious original interior is in excellent condition including the seats, door panels and armrests. The carpets have been replaced. There is ample room for 6 passengers to ridecomfortably and the rear seat has a center fold-down armrest for added comfort. The dash has no cracks or other blemishes and all of the switches and instruments function as intended. The radio and clock also work. Hanging below the dash is the original optional air conditioner which keeps the interior cool on the hottest of summer days. The a/c has been upgraded with a modern compressor and uses 134 type refrigerant.
The original automatic transmission has been upgraded to a GM 700R overdrive transmission. The selector dial was changed to reflect this change. The new transmission increased fuel economy and provided faster acceleration.

The engine compartment is clean but not highly detailed. The power brake booster was recently replacedwith a rebuilt unit. Power steering andfront disc brakes make the car very enjoyable to drive.
