1962 Studebaker Hawk Description

HI I AM SELLING MY 1962 STUDABAKER HAWK GT AND ITS IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. THIS IS BY FAR THE NICEST HAWK I HAVE EVER OWNED; AND I HAVE HAD MANY IN THE LAST 61 YEARS. IT HAS ITS ORIGINAL 8 CYL ENGINE AND ITS ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION. THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETLY REBUILT 5 YEARS AGO BY MURPHY'S AUTO CARE AND RESORATION IN NEW JERSEY. THE ENGINE STARTS RIGHT UP AND REALLY PURRS LIKE A KITTEN. THERE ARE NONE OF THE USUAL NOISES AT ALL. THE ENGINE PULLS GREAT. THIS CAR WAS ORDERED WITH A 4 BARREL CARB WHICH WAS RARE. IT STILL RETAINS IT"S ORIGINAL CARB. THE MANUAL TRANS IS ORIGINAL AS WELL AND THEY INSTALLED A NEW CLUTCH AND PRESSURE PLATE. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WITH IT. IT SHIFTS GEARS GREAT. AT THAT TIME THEY MOVED THE SHIFTER FROM THE ORIGINAL COLUMN SHIFT TO A FLOOR SHIFT. THEY FABRICATED THE SHIFT LINKAGE, AND NOW IT'S A 3 ON THE FLOOR. I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL LINKAGE AND THE ORIGINAL COLUMN SHIFT LEVER. THE ONLY THING I REPLACED RECENTLY IS THE BATTERY.
THE PAINT WAS RE-DONE 4 YEARS AGO AND IT IS MAGNIFICENT. THE PAINT WAS DONE IN A 2 STAGE PAINT. IT WAS REDONE IN ITS ORIGINAL ERMINE WHITE COLOR. PPG STILL MAKES THIS COLOR. THE PANELS ARE RAZOR STRAIGHT AND THERE IS NO BONDO ON THIS CAR; NOT A DROP. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY NO RUST ON THIS CAR EITHER. AT THE TIME IT WAS PAINTED ALL THE GLASS WAS REMOVED AND ALL THE STAINLESS HAS BEEN REMOVED. AT THAT TIME AND ALL THE RUBBER WAS REPLACED INCLUDING THE FRONT AND REAR GLASS AS WELL AS THE TRUNK RUBBER. THERE IS NOT ANY OVERSPRAY ON THIS CAR EITHER. SINCE THEN THIS CAR HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED. ALL OF THE GLASS IS EXCELLENT AND THEY ALL ORERATE PROPERLY.
ALL THE CROME AND STAINLESS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. MOST OF IT HAS BEEN REPLACED. THE BUMPERS ARE ORIGINAL BUT WERE RECHROMED BY FRANKFORD PLATING IN PHILADELPHIA. ALL THE EMBLEMS WERE REPLACED AND STILL LOOK NEW.
THE INTERIOR IS NOTHING SHORT OF EXCEPTIONAL. THE ENTIRE INTERIOR HAS BEEN REDONE. THE SEATS, DOOR PANELS (FRONT AND BACK), KICK PANELS,DASH PAD, CONSOLE,CARPET AND ANYTHING I HAVE FORGOTTEN HAVE BEEN REDONE TO A REALLY HIGH LEVEL. ALL OF THE INTERIOR PARTS CAME FROM SOUTHEAST STUDEBAKER WHO PRODUCE REPRODUCTION STUDEBAKER UPOLSTERY PARTS. THE SEAT BACKS INCLUDING THE ASH TRAYS ARE REDONE AND PERFECT. THE REAR DECK HAS BEEN REPLACED AS WELL. ANY ONE WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH THESE CAR KNOWS HOW MUCH STAINLESS AND CROME IS INSIDE THIS CAR, WELL THAT HAS MOSTLY BEEN REPLACED AND IS EXCEPTIONAL AS WELL, INCLUDING ALL THE ASH TRAYS. THE HEADLINER AND VISORS WERE REPLACED AND LOOK BRAND NEW. NOT ONLY WAS THE HEADLINER REPLACED BUT ALSO WERE THE STAINLESS BOWS. ANYONE WHO KNOWS THESE CARS WILL KNOW THAT IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE HEADLINER YOU BHAVE TO REMOVE THE REAR GLASS AND ITS A BIG JOB. EVEN THE CARPET WAS PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED AND SEWN TO ACCOMODATE FOR THE FLOOR SHIFT.
ALL THE GAGES WORK AS THEY SHOULD INCLUDING THE GAS GAGE. ALL THE LIGHTS WORK AS WELL.THE ORIGINAL HORN HAS BEEN REPAIRED AND WORKS AS WELL. ALL THE INTERIOR LITES AND THE INSTRUMENT LITES WORK AS WELL. THE ORIGINAL RADIO IS IN THE CAR AND IT WORKS SOMETIMES.
THE ENTIRE CAR HAS BEEN REWIRED FROM FRONT TO BACK. IF YOU KNOW THE STUDEBAKER, THE FACTORY DID NOT OFFER AIR CONDITIONING. THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS DEALER INSTALLED AND THIS IS SUPER RARE. THE COMPRESSOR HAS BEEN CHECKED AND HOLDS GOOD PRESSURE. THIS AC IS THE NORIGINAL AC FROM 1962 IT IS NOT A CURRENT ADD ON.
NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT PART, I HAVE INCLUDED PICTURES OF THE UNDER CARRIAGE TO SHOW THAT THIS CAR IS 100% RUST FREE.
