The car was recently freeway driven without any issues whatsoever from it's home in Palm Springs, CA to Torrance, CA, some 120+ miles. The car was ordered with rare leather upholstery option, power steering and the 'Starline' 6 tube radio, heater, windshield washer, electric clock, Hill-holder, hubcaps, full wheel covers, whitewall tires, deluxe steering wheel, front & rear armrests, dual sunvisors, automatic dome & courtesy lights, rear quarter panel stainless trim & full carpeting.
The V8 version of the daring and legendary Raymond Loewy design, with sleek European styling matched by luxurious interiors and with a radical new design focused on a streamlined coupe to match Loewy's passion for a light weight and fuel efficient design which declared a "weight to be the enemy" approach, whilst the rest of Detroit was still focused on building much larger and heavier cars as was the fashion of the day. The Museum of Modern Art recognized the Loewy coupe at it's introduction as "one of the most beautiful automobiles ever", and later went as far as to describe the car as a "work of art". The car will also be sold with a copy of it's build sheet from the 'Studebaker National Museum', original owners manuals, shop manuals & paint chip brochures etc.
In summary, this particular example is a beautifully restored example in a very striking two-tone color combination with both cosmetics and mechanics attended to in great daily driving and turn-key ready to enjoy today condition and a simply fabulous example of this increasingly desirable and collectible top-of-the-line and desirably optioned 1954 Studebaker Regal Commander Starliner 232 V8 2 Door hardtop!
