1987 Subaru GL Yes Description

This is a 4wd not awd 4 cylinder fuel injrcted turbo charged car with 97k actual miles. I bought this car from the original North Carlolina owner in 2014 with 75k miles. It may as well be 2wd as I drive a 87 blue dual ranger in the winter and this in the summer. The picture of the car with loyal hubcaps is my winter car. I freakin love my subarus, I run the winter car from October to April and turbo in the summer, except this year.In 2016 at 91k the head gaskets went a mile from home. For the previous week it acted like bad gas or a rough idle, then came the white smoke. It’s my experience that the head gaskets go on the Subaru’, the non turbos last longer but still go. I also have a complete ea82t with 93 k on it. At 91 k the original engine was pulled as the clutch was also original, the heads were planed at Edgar machine in Ware Ma, inspection showed no cracks. The motor was reassembled with Fel pro head gaskets. New timing belts, seals water pump, tensione, clutch pressure plate throw out bearing. The car was perfect before the head gasket issue so it was a no brainer, the other motor was not used because it also had the same mileage. At 97 k miles and many trips to Maine the motor is happy and healthy, I shift the car at 3000 rpm, the winter car I shift at 4000 rpm. It’s never been off-roaded by me,not that it wouldn’t do great, cuz it would. I’m into the longevity end of it, I wanna do the gaskets in another 80k and continue to get good gas mileage. At 115-120 horse it goes right along.... no waitin, some 1.8s are real painful. The car has original sun dried pain, it has rust on hatch, and below grill, the car is solid that’s what it has going for it. No it’s not Barrett Jackson or any of that. The 4wd is the push button which is very good, but it doesn’t hold a candle to a dual ranger. But like I said, I don’t have the heart to drive it in the salty winter, so it may as well be 2wd, I hated the Subaru awd in the summer. Anyway it does have a couple dings, the a/c needs a pump. It still has the original radio, will come with brand new tires,on the wagon wheels or the mags. I have new door panels, I just haven’t changed the original sun beat ones, we put stickers on them. The rear hatch won’t stay up, the dual ranger has some better trim parts. That’s enough for now.
