1988 Subaru Justy Description

Solid all-wheel/ 4 wheel drive first generation Subaru justy. These are rare fun little cars with tons of character and highly capable. Because of their capability and low cost of maintenance and operation most of these four wheel drives have gone to the scrap yard because of rust, this one has remained in the southern low country for the majority of its life leaving it rust free!
This first generation justy has been upgraded with bigger second generation steering and brake components as well as 13inch wheels and new tires, All strut/shocks have been replaced with new.Original steering and brake components come with vehicle as well as original 12 inch wheels.
Starter and alternator have been rebuilt with new bushings and brushes within the last 13k miles.
Missing muffler at the moment comes with new high flow stainless steel muffler.
Transmission was refurbished with new bearings and seals and clutch replaced about 13k miles ago.
Currently equipped with a Webber carburetor, original carburetor along with most of the original smog equipment comes with the vehicle.
Engine rebuilt 13k miles ago, comes with spare head with springs valves and camshaft. Spare head has a crack in it at spark plug hole common issue with these engine. Head on engine now had same crack but has been ground down, rewelded and machined. Unfortunately after all the time and money the engine has developed a bad rod knock. Will need Immediate attention to engine to be a reliable transport. Have not driven since knockdeveloped two years ago, WILL run and drive but engine sounds terrible and would not rely on it as is.

Comes with battery but is old may need charge or be bad?
Comes with factory 1988 owners and workshop manuals, as well as the big lower motor mount and rear transmission mount from the dealer. All very hard to find items, the big motor mount was about $180 alone. Some original tools remain with vehicle and are in pictures.
My loss is your gain, this is a great little car it just needs a little more to be a reliable daily driver again. My life has changed and I realize I can’t get to all of my projects including this one. I hope someone can care for and have fun with this little justy like I did while I had it. This little car did better in snow and mud than my friends 2500 Chevy 4x4, and that was when it had the 12inch tires!
This car was up for sale not to long ago the highest bidder flaked so here it is again for round two, Don’t let it slip past you this time!!
