My kids wanted a car to drive, so I fixed up my 1988½Samurai. At this point, their older brother sold them his used car when he bought himself a new one. I have had this Samurai since 1995, and now I have finally decided to part with it.
This past summer I spent over $1000 to install: A new battery, four new tires, a new canvas top, a new handbrake cable, a new throttle cable, a new exhaust from the manifold all the way back (new muffler, pipes, and catalytic convert). The fluids have been checked, and the oil has been replaced.
This Samurai has less than 98K miles. At about 90K miles, the engine was replaced with a rebuild engine, a new Weber carburetor (which I found out later is a Weber fake), new clutch and clutch cable.
I have installed a hand control choke. It idles rough until warm. Besides that, it runs and drives great. Good motor, good body, and fun to drive.
The original front bumper is gone. The original grill melted when the first engine overheated. The radio does not work, the left mirror is cracked, the seat seams are ripping out, and the brake light on the dash stays on (it's the hand brake switch).
ALL 3 rear windows are zipper removable. Slight rust is shown in pictures. Comes with a tow bar. Oregon tags are good until December 2018.
You can tow it home or I can pick you up at the Klamath Falls, Oregon Amtrak station and then you can drive it home.
