Dallas Motorsports presents this Rare & Restored 1983 Toyota FJ40!
Having just arrived at our facility, this Matching Numbers North American FJ40 is a very nice example of a Fresh & Extensive Restoration! Brought to us by a gentleman who is considered to be an absolute FJ40 enthusiast, having restored several over the years. During the restoration of this FJ-40, absolutely no expense was spared! All of the drive train was gone through and refreshed at that time which consisted of: engine, transmission, differential, clutch and steering box (factory power steering). The entire body was stripped down, the windows and trim were removed to perform a bare metal re-spray in the factory color. This FJ is equipped with a Factory A/C system. Although not an option on this particular one, it certainly builds value as a majority did not have the option.
In our experience, a majority of the FJ40's you see on the road have not been officially "restored," but updated here and there. Having a Factory Power Steering setup gives you an easier and more comfortable driving experience, without the "worn out/tired " feeling of the no-power steering FJ's. Once you set your eyes on this FJ, it will give you an excellent perspective on what a proper restoration should entail!
Based on the statistics Toyota has provided, 4,085 FJ40's & FJ60's were produced for sale worldwide. Out of the 4,085 produced, only 300 were US examples of a FJ40! 1983 was also the last year for the FJ40 production in the US. If you are looking for a mint condition, fully restored 4X4 Classic, the Toyota FJ40 is an excellent choice. Freshly restored FJ's in similar condition have recently been seen rolling through the auction block of prestigious auctions such as: Mecum, Barrett Jackson, and RM.
Below is a link to an extensive article regarding another FJ, which was restored by the same individual. http://www.tundraheadquarters.com/blog/1978-toyota-fj45-land-cruiser-pickup/
