1988 Toyota Land Cruiser Base Sport Utility 4-Door Description

1988 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62. I brought this great truck back to life! Southern Arizona owned truck.Only rust is in the rear passenger quarter-panel which had to have occurredfrom a collection of water in the mud flap and a spot of rust on the inner side of the driver door(very strange place and uncertain why there). Other than that, rust-free!
Interior: Interior received a dash cap, LED dome light bulbs, new rear cargo light and center dome light assembly, new factory bulb replacement throughout the entire vehicle, factory Toyota automatic shifter bushings, Lloyd custom fitted rubber mats, deep shampoo and steam cleaning of the seats and door panels, four new door handle trims, two new window cranks, new factory front driver and passenger door weather-strips, new fire extinguisher under front driver seat, new factory passenger door dome light switch, new factory glovebox light switch and bulb, factory fuse panel cover, replaced all missing screws with correct factory screws, Belkin USB port, door panel fasteners and vinyl putty for the door sills. All interior lights work like new! Factory jack, tools and bag included.
Exterior: I was going to bring it in to a bodyshop and have everything fixed. But the more I drove it, the more compliments I received for keeping it original and giving it character. It's crazy but this Cruiser gets a lot of head turns! So, I replaced the cracked and broken light lenses, bulbs and seals. All lights work, no shorts and no cracked lenses. Front bumper received new factory corner bumpers. No cracks in any of the windows and all window seals are in very good condition. Con-Ferr full size roof rack and a NAPA Hi-Lift are included. Full spare with good tire underneath the vehicle. Smooth locking Aisin front wheel locking hubs. Brand new Falken Wildpeak A/T 32x11.50x15 tires. Painted wheels to match the factory rear quarter panel air vents. New hood bump stops.
Engine/Suspension: 2.5"-3" lift. Body and stance is even. Dealership alignment done less than a month ago. New front inner and outer swaybar bushings. New rear swaybar bushings. Power-steering gearbox adjusted to 40mm movement per factory spec's. Dealership "4x4 truck service" performed which includes front, center and rear diff fluid exchange and all zerks greased. The steering and suspension is tight and it definitely does not feel like a typical Cruiser with 226k miles. New Toyota factory plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor, air filter, oil filter and fuel filter. Flushed cooling system and replaced with a Toyota factory thermostat/gasket and Toyota red coolant. No over-heating what's so ever! Accelerator cable adjusted and the fuel pulsation damper also adjusted properly. The torque response and shifting is very smooth. It took patience but between adjusting the accelerator cable, power steering box and fuel pulsation damper, it became so hard to not fall in love with this truck! New muffler added and the previous owner added new cats. Engine runs strong! No smell of gas or burning oil. Within two oil changes, I haven't added oil once. All engine parts are factory Toyota parts.
Leaks: Small oil pan leak and exhaust manifold leak.
Would consider servicing next: Valve adjustment, clean grounds and a McNamara input gear.
Not pictured but included: New steering damper and front center console FJ62 cup holder insert.
I drive this truck everyday and would not hesitate to drive it just about anywhere. Only thing I could not figure out is the occasional idle burp. I know it's common in all FJ60 & 62 and it doesn't affect the performance or driving ability of the vehicle. The RPM's sit perfectly at 800 and the acceleratorresponse is without any hesitation. It's either a vacuum leak, dirty grounds or the voltage regulator.
