1977 Toyota Land Cruiser Frame Off Nut and Bolt Restoration HJ45 Like FJ40 BJ40 Description
1977 Toyota Land Cruiser HJ45 Pick up truck - Rare Diesel Land Cruiser in excellent, fully frame off restored condition - no expense spared - open checkbook restoration of this iconic classic vehicle. People approach me to talk about it within seconds of me stopping the truck; every time I go out, anywhere I go.
Also of Note: I see a few of these trucks on eBay, and of course have been watching the market intently prior to listing this truck. One green 1971 recently bid to $59,950, (reserve not met) billed as a nut and bolt restoration, a white 64 bid to $42K(reserve not met)and a 74 bid to $53K... Also seen a few listed around $75K - I just want everyone to know that I will put my truck head to head with ANY HJ45 or FJ45 I have seen on eBay in recent memory. This is a no BS, no excuses truck, and auction. I have tried to describe the truck as accurately as possible in my description below:
Every nut and bolt has been off and replaced on this Land Cruiser.
Professional paint job - body, frame and bed-liner.
All systems gone through by a mechanic specializing in 4WD vehicles in Florida.
Thousands were spent fixing any and all issues with this vehicle; of which there were really very few. Engine runs very well. Mostly just spent money on all new OEM Parts everywhere on this vehicle to get it looking as close to stock as possible.
Brand New BFG AT's with 100! miles on them. 33 x 10.50 x 15 tires and 5 Chrome wheels from an FJ60 in Excellent overall condition. (Not the junk tires I see on so many other trucks for sale.)
All New OEM: Fog lights and fog light switch, new engine decompression switch, new throttle cable, new washer switch, new cigarette lighter.
New OEM Fuel sender and Gas Gauge, disc brakes in front, hydraulic steering, antique Hella rear fog light installed with very cool, red, lit, Hella pull switch in dash.
Interior shows as new - Brand New OEM: Door Panels, Door Handles, Window regulators. Custom full floor mat. OEM gear shift and transfer case knobs. Floors are amazing! All Gauges work. New Rear view mirror, new side mirrors. New Windshield.
Brand new Interstate Battery, new air filter, new OEM fuel filter service, 2 new fuel lines, OEM H Oil filter and oil change with Rotella on April 12, 2017.
New Windshield, New Driveshaft.
Frame off restoration - every nut and bolt was removed and replaced. I am a perfectionist. Former US Marine. I own a limo company in Vail - EagleVailExpress.com. I am very detail oriented. This is a really nice truck.
ALL work listed was completed between Dec 15 2016 and April 12, 2017 - (does not include the frame-off paint job completed previously)
All fluids, tires etc have less than 100 miles on them as of today, 4-26-17
Things that are not quite perfect:1. The wheels are awesome - but at about 1-2 feet away you can see a small spot in the crease of each of the wheels were they have corroded slightly in the past from sitting. Very hard to see in these pics but there nonetheless. I purchased the best set I could find. Happy to text you pics...2. Clutch chatters very slightly in first gear only. We adjusted the clutch and it is pretty good but if I was going to keep the truck as a daily driver, I would have this addressed to make it a bit smoother. No chatter at all in 2, 3, 4 and R.3. For some reason they drilled 2 extra holes in the hood on each side. I have no idea when this happened in the trucks life, or why, and its a little sad from a perfectionist point of view, but you probably would not have noticed had I never mentioned it; in the interest of full disclosure. No one ever notices, its always more like "OMG WOW! That is the coolest truck I've ever seen!" and other similar commentary. Everyone wants to know the story on the truck. People walk up to me while I am sitting at stoplights to talk, leave notes on the windows of the truck while in the parking structure etc. with questions and interest about this vehicle. I guess it is a real head turner. It honestly is every bit as sweet as the McLarens and Ferrari's parked in my building - It has an amazing 'presence' and look to it - looking brand spanking new doesn't hurt either. I live in Miami Beach where image is sadly a 'thing'.... There are a million porsche cayennes, mercedes, lambos, ferraris etc around here and I will tell you the truth; this truck gets WAY more attention than all that stuff.
