1987 Toyota MR2 (No reserve auction)
The MR2(1st gen) also known as the AW11is a 2 seat, mid engine, rear wheel drive car made back in the mid to late 1980sby Toyota. These carsare known to be quick andhave great handling, with a sporty body style. Just a rad car to own and drive!
ThisToyota MR2was laston the road around 2015. At that time the engine was smoking and had a knock so the carwasparked withthe plan to swap for a newer Toyota enginewith turbo. There is always the possibility of having the current engine rebuilt if you wanted to go that route. It has not been started in the 2 years since thereforeI am selling as a non running project vehicle. Odom reads 255383.
The Gold paint is one of the coolest colors for these cars in my opinion. It really screams 1980's. It is starting to show its age though, having areas of chipping and cracking. There are also smaller rust spots on the body as well. The front air dam is damaged and cracked and there is also some light damage tothedrivers side fender. I have tried to photograph these areas so please look closely and remember this is an original paint job from 30 years ago. Original wheels. Tires are in good shape andhold air. Therubber seal around the driverdoor is going bad and should be replaced. It looks as though ithas leaked, but the car has been parkedcovered so thereare no wet spots or puddles. It did cause a rustspot along the bottom of the door (pictured). The TTOPScome off and goon easily and lock as they should. The manualwindows on both doors roll up and down with no problems. All door glass, windshield, rear window, etc. is free of any cracks and isin great condition. I tried to take pics of the underside of the car but it is very low and was unable to get the camera under for a decent pic, I did not see any problem areas, but it was difficult to get under very far.
The interior is fairly clean with only a few places of staining. One noticeable place is the driversfloor near the center console, as well as the passenger seat. The carpet is not badlytorn and the seats have no major rips or tears. The dash only has a couple small cracks and is otherwise not faded, cut up, or cracked. The shifter fabric is beat. There is a newer CD player installed though it has not been tested. The headlight motors, lights, warning lights, AC, dash lights, turn signals, brake lights, etc. all work properly as they should. The gauge glass is in great shape with no cracks or fogging. There are a couple places where it seems as though the TTOPS have leaked into the interior (common for this car) and caused some staining as well.
The frunk (front trunk) and trunk are in great condition, with no issues. The frunk has some staining, it looks like something spilled, but the original TTOP covers are there and in great shape. The frunk locks and seals perfectly. The trunk is also very clean. The spare tire and cover are there as well as the original tool kit!
These first generation MR2's/AW11's are starting to become rare and harderto find in any condition.
