If you are looking for a 1st Gen 4runner you will find them in 3 different conditions..my opinion.
If you are looking for a showroom truck with zero rust and completely stock you will see them listed for 10-15k. My truck is not in this category. The second tier would be stock in great shape with no rust and I see these for 6-10k. As far as I am concerned, the 4runners below 5k are anything from rust buckets to needing an engine. I think you will be hard pressed to find one in this condition for less than 5k taking the following into consideration..
This has the desired 22re 4cyl manual 5sp
Soft top included - this can cost you 800 plus.
Tires are in good shape
New timing chain with metal guides, water pump - truck does not run hot.
Newer fuel tank and fuel pump.
Does not leak or drip any fluids
rear exhaust is new
frame is not rusted
front hubs rebuilt
rear seals on axles replaced
Body rust has been repaired and looks ok but not professional.
Interior floors have been rhino lined
Has the rear seat delete so it folds down for a pickup like "utility"
All of that being said this is a 30 year old truck and..
has a crack in the windshield
AC does not work
30year old truck wear and tear to interior
I have 5 cars and this one must go. I do think this is capable of making a longer road trip but it certainly is not comfortable like my wife's Tahoe.
THIS IS A USED 30 year old 4runner. It is a great beach vehicle with very capable 4 wheel drive
