1986 Toyota Supra Description
Rescue in need. This single-owner 1986.5 Toyota Supra was once cherished by its proud parent. Unfortunately, the original owner no longer drives and with a saddened heart is selling this future Japanese collectible.
Rare for a soon-to-be classic, this Mk3 Supra is almost entirely stock and in original condition except for the exterior paint and tires. The 30-year-old hatchback was repainted (Feb 2012) because the paint was weathered -- not to cover up any accidents. Surface rust was cleaned out of the spare tire well but there is small evidence of possible rust beginning to form underneath the paint.
With only 127,300 original miles, the engine runs strong. The naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder starts without hesitation, runs smoothly, and has zero smoke coming from the engine or tailpipe.
The pop-up headlights work the same as when the car left the factory. Original factory dampers are tired and overdue for replacement. The same goes for the hood and hatchback struts.
The interior is a bit worn from having to sit outside in the California sun the past eight years. While some of the vinyl covers are brittle and fragile, the seats and dashboard are in good shape without any rips, tears, or cracks. All the gauges and buttons work. The warning light for the rear taillights is detecting something I cannot figure out as all the taillights, brake lights, and turn signals are working properly.
The A/C still pumps out cold air on a hot day. The driver's side door is missing its restrictor, which prevents the door from swinging all the way open. Overall, the Supra is in really good shape for being over 30-years old.
