1982 Toyota Corolla SR5 Liftback - One owner
1982 Toyota Corolla SR5 Description
I have for sale my classic 1982 Toyota Corolla SR5 Liftback. I purchased this new and over the first 5 years of ownership I drove it regularly and put about 30,000 miles on it. I also had an FJ40 Land Cruiser at the same time so the Corolla was never driven in the winter. Then came my first 4Runner in 1987 and the Corolla became a Sunday driver. Fast forward to 2010 and the Corolla got a fresh paint job from the body shop manager at the local Toyota dealer. He had done such an awesome job on my 1978 FJ40 that I decided to have him do a face lift as the paint had started to fade from sitting. Factory steel spoke wheels were repainted and new Coker Redline 13 inch tires with the BF Goodrich Radial T/A tread were installed. The tires currently have 400 miles on them. More recently a new cat back Bosal exhaust was installed, as well as a factory remanufactured alternator, new water pump, all new belts, and a new Sears Diehard Gold battery. Mechanically the Corolla starts, runs, and drives beautifully. With only 46,000 miles it has a lot of life left. Everything works as it should including the air conditioner. I would rate the mechanicals at close to 100%. The exterior is beautiful in Toyota dark metallic blue accented with a double red pinstripe to tie in with the Redline tires. There are a few minor flaws in the paint but minimal considering the vehicle is 36 years old. As I said before the Corolla was never driven in the winter and also has never been in an accident. The interior, while complete and in decent shape, has seen some degrading from the sun over the years. Some fading of plastic as well as the upholstery is obvious but not a total detriment to the vehicle. It could be driven and used for a long time as is. I did put some front seat covers on it when it was 14 years old which has helped over the years. I have full service records for the vehicle from day one and also have the factory owner’s manual, factory sales brochure, Toyota factory service manual, and all the original tools and jack that came with the vehicle. With all that being said this is a collector car and needs to be passed on to someone that will take care of it and cherish it as I have over the years. This is not a good first car for a new driver nor should it be purchased to be driven all year around unless you happen to live outside of the snow belt. I have done a lot of reading and research on the value of the Corolla and am asking a fair price. I have over $2800 just in the paint and tires. This vehicle should only continue to go up in value as most collector cars do. If you are interested in owning a piece of Toyota history, this could be just the vehicle you have been looking for. Thanks for looking! Bill I ALSO WANTED TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF AN ISSUE WITH THE LISTING. THE AUTOCHECK SCORE, PROVIDED BY EXPERIAN, IS 20, BELOW THE AVERAGE OF 25 TO 46 FOR 1982 TOYOTAS. THIS IS BECAUSE THE LOCAL DMV DOES NOT REQUIRE MILEAGE TO BE REPORTED WHEN RENEWING THE LICENSE AND REGISTRATION EACH YEAR. BECAUSE OF THIS THEY ARE SHOWING NOT ACTUAL MILES FOR 2012 THROUGH 2017 AND IN 2004 FOR SOME REASON AS WELL. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THE MILEAGE IS ACCURATE AND I HAVE COMPLETE SERVICE RECORDS FROM DAY ONE WITH DATES AND MILEAGE. I AM WORKING ON GETTING THIS REPORTING CORRECTED WITH THE LOCAL DMV.
