1986 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Description
Aloha, Brandy is a 1986 1st Generation Vintage Toyota 4Runner 4x4 2.4 L 22RE. Has 192,500mi and the Most Awesome character of any vehicle I’ve owned, from past yota’s to my 78’ VW Westfalia Champagne Edition that I had for over 10years. This is hands down an Awesome vehicle all around. I thought I was going to keep this one forever and pass it down, it's one of those. But life happens.Looks REALLY Good for her age and original paint. Some small dings and dents, less then average. Straight body. Runs great, strong, quiet and reliable. No leaks on engine, front diff, rear diff, gear box or transfer case. Doesn't burn oil. Yakima surf racks. Weather seals in good condition, regularly conditioned. Classic 1st gen optional removable shell. I've never taken it off. No water leaks. All original interior and exterior. Power steering, power brakes, wheel tilt. Original Toyota glass.Original AM/FM Cassette player.Gets attention of Toyota enthusiasts and others regularly.I was a machinery technician in the Coast Guard for several years, I kept my engine room onboard my ship squared away and I maintain the same standards and up keep, cleaning and preventive maintenance on my vehicles. One owner previous to me. I would consider myself more of a care taker for a short period of time. I Purchased her less then one year ago in Boulder, CO from a dealership that got it through an estate sale. Garaged and very well maintained. No rust when I got it last August. It just started creeping this spring I noticed. Would be best to attack it now before next winter to maintain its overall value and integrity.New tires General Grabber A/T 31x10.50x15 on Original 15" rims. Cooling system flushed entirely, replaced with Zerek Toyota coolant. 4x4 works great and will take you to those one of a kind places off the beaten path. Rear Factory roll bar. 4H and 4L handles whatever you need. IFS Suspension, stock OEM shocks. Timing chain was done previous to my purchase. Running Amsoil 10-40w high Zinc Synthetic. The high Zinc content is better for the older engine push rods, lifters, valves, camshaft etc.Amsoil Severe Gear 80-90w in transfer case, front and rear diff. Gear box has OEM 80-90w gear oil to maintain the GL-5 Toyota Specification. Lucas “Red and Tacky” used for chassis and drivelines.*I've only used Non-Ethanol Fuel 88oct and 91oct.*New plugs, air filter, distributor wires, alternator, thermostat, engine temp sensor, driveline u-joints, interior floor mats.**Has a less then normal amount of where and tear for being 32 years old and all original. She isn’t in mint condition and has some small dings, scratches and rock chips here and there, but its all original and looks so classic and vintage. Epic character and nostalgia .O.G. 1986 flashback.**cons:Rear window not currently working. Haven’t used it since last summer. I'm going to be taking it to the shop to get fixed this upcoming week or depending on shop availability.Minor rust on rear driver side and passenger side wheel well and two small spots on bottom of tailgate.CV boots could use new boots, mechanically they are working just fine.Three cracks on dash from heat stress, minor though.**Contact Augie @ 808-683-8361 for any questions, details, more pictures or video. On Jun-03-19 at 13:08:27 PDT, seller added the following information:**I also need to let you guys know that on the passenger side rear quarter panel, just in front of tail light, there is an impression. Like someone had leaned on it and pushed it in a little. No scratches or damage involved with it. I can send you pictures through text if anyone would like to see it. You can see it in the photos posted, but it can easily be overlooked if you never knew it was there.**As mentioned in the original ad, there is minor rust around the driver and passenger rear fender wells, as you can see in the pictures. Where the plastic rock deflectors would be, directly in front of the rear tires, I took them off in November and found surface rust underneath from debris and stuff being trapped behind the plastic for years acting like sand paper. To mitigate any other exposure to elements I used Gorilla Glue Heavy Duty duct tape, as a temporary fix. It has held up solid and has kept those two spot protected well. It was the best I could to get through this long wet winter until this summer when I was going to have it all taken care of since it is all really minor and in the very early stages. Also two small spots under the lip of the bottom of the tailgate. You need to lay down under tailgate to see them.***I apologize for the late info. Please excuse me, this is my first time selling anything online in a way that we don't actually meet up and do a walk around, test drive etc. I have been constantly thinking if there is anything else I could clarify or add to my ad to show my integrity and transparency.
***Good news: It's in the shop getting the rear window fixed.
