1977 Toyota Land Cruiser Description

I restored this rare rust free 1977 Toyota FJ40 in 2011 to drive around with my kids, but still have it feel like an old truck. Since the restoration, I've put about 10,000 easy miles on the new engine and it's been in a heated garage during winters.

6-cylinder (4.2L) 4-speed engine starts immediately and runs very strong. The truck drives comfortably on the freeways, etc.

All the major systems were inspected or replaced: the trans was overhauled, new clutch, master cylinder, new tires, new battery, alternator, fuel pump, etc.

I added the ARB front end, winch (need to purchase a control cable, lost in a move), the original lights and added off-road lights work. The heater blows hot and there is no AC. The wipers are functional. The steering is original, not powered. The gaugeswork, other thanthe fuelgaugewhich does not (it did work, so maybe just a float) and the original engine heatgaugehas supplemental second engine tempgauge that is more accurate. The engine does not overheat and runs well in hot conditions.

I wanted to drive around with 2-3 kids in both front and back seats, so I removed the original ambulance seats and the original front passenger bucket seat and replaced them with a custom made 40/60 front bench with 3 seat belts and a custom back seat with 2 belts. Now, 2 adults and 3 children can comfortable and safely drive around town.

A roll cage was added to protect both front and back passengers, it's bolt on, so if you want to modify it it's an easy mod. It comes with a bikini top, I do not have the original hard top or door, both were sold on eBay when we did the conversion in 2011.

Great sound system. Installed a high-quality blue-tooth sound system with hidden away amps, installed 2 dedicated 2-way mids and a tweeter in the custom half doors door with custom panels and a sub under the driver’s seat. It rocks!

The original paint was faded from spending most of its life in Phx dessert conditions, so I match painted the truck with original ToyotaSafari Tanpaint, including the rare vented hood to help keep engine cool and new fiberglass half doors. The passenger's side door handle needs new handle, but everyone just likes to jump in over the doors anyway. We painted theexterior and some places on the interior, but left the original pain on the dash and a few other places to preserve the feeling of an old truck. There is one defect on the hood, I included a photo, otherwise, paint is solid.

The underbody of the vehicle is as clean, no leaks or rust.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to arrange to see the vehicle.
