Selling my much beloved 1987 Toyota Pickup Manual 4x4 . It’s the classic unkillable 22r Toyota Pickup of legend. I have a family now and had to get something bigger to fit the crew. Still runs and operates great and I’d otherwise keep it, but such is life, c'est la vie, I have less time and all that. I would like it to go to someone who will use it and knows what they are getting—an awesome truck the likes of which aren’t made anymore!
Owned it for 8 years. It came from Arizona and I have garaged it since it being here in Colorado. I used it mainly for camping and driving to upper trailheads for hiking. I used it well, but did not abuse it or put it in places it shouldn’t be, etc, and I have maintained it. Replaced any parts that it needed over the years (list below), but overall it has been an incredibly reliable and fun vehicle.
The frame / undercarriage has little rust. The Body has a few rust spots that is common for the model, particularly the tailgate door. These could be fixed with a some time and effort.Bed of truck has some surface rust.
Only bigger issue with it is that the odometer and speedometer stopped working. I’m having difficulty locating the speedo sensor part which I believe is the issue and would be an easy replacement on the transmission once found. I have a new replacement speedo cable on hand to accomodate the sensor. Yes, the odometer reading is accurate as I stopped driving it any meaningful distance after the issue. Feel free to vet via any reasonable method. Some of the wiring is getting older and that could probably be gone through.
Interior is in good shape. Not perfect, but good for the year and model. Main issue here is the material on interior of doors is slightly coming loose at the edges. The passenger door needs replaced components inside also, as it doesn’t open with inside handle and the window doesn’t roll completely down. All other interior mechanisms not mentioned above work just fine.
Engine is clean and runs well.
Would make a great camping or hunting or off-road rig. One could easily modify couple things for rock crawling if that’s your thing. Or completely renovate if you want to create a perfect period model. I’m motivated to sell, but I know what it is and Please only serious buyers, time is limited for me.
Does have a small dent on the corner of the topper.
Front dust guard for the front grill needs to be install. The guard's screw holes rusted out.
