1988 Toyota Pickup SR5 V6
1988 Toyota Pickup SR5 Description
I never thought this day would come... I’m selling my 1988 Toyota Pickup SR5 V6. The reason being is that I just recently picked up a 1987 SR5 Turbo and want to focus on one project at a time. This truck is one of the cleanest you’ll find. I bought it off some guy in Northern California and had it shipped to New Jersey in May of 2018. I loved it and still do, it has never given me a single problem in the 13k miles I put on it since I’ve owned it. I can’t even tell you how much work I put into this thing. I pick the grass off the carpet every time I get in and out lol. I’d pay anyone $1,000 to find a single spot of rust on this thing. I’ve done 5 qrts of 10w30 conventional oil with a filter every 2500 miles since I’ve owned it. You won’t find a more cared for truck. It idles, runs, shifts and drives like new. I can’t say enough about this truck. 4wd works flawlessly. Also has the vent windows! Tires have 60% remaining and are amazing in the snow and rain. They’re 31x10.50R15 Toyo ATs. Ive never hauled anything in it or towed anything with it either. I’ve never taken it past 3500 rpm because I don’t beat on my vehicles. It also gets decent gas mileage. Probably around 17-18mpg. You can eat off the engine bay and frame. The original paint and decals are still in really good shape too. The A/C even works! The following work I’ve done in the past 10k miles.
- New plugs- New wires- New distributor cab and rotor- New air filter- Brand new bilsteins all the way around- Gear oil flush- Coolant flush- New idle screw o-ring- New front pads- New front rotors- New front calipers- Stainless high flow exhaust (sounds amazing)- Cleaned throttle body- Rebuilt locking hubs (work great)- Nice bed liner- New climate control face plate- New 3.0 engine decal on plenum- New OME steering stabilizer- rebuilt trans 40k ago
The only negatives I can think of off the top of my head is the cracked dash like every other Toyota truck and the dent on the driver side of the cab and door. Previous owner said he was quoted around 750 to fix it. It never bothered me enough to justify fixing it. The other dent is on the passenger side fender when a deer ran into me on a back road. Other than that it’s an awesome truck! I would like to see this truck go to a good home. Thanks
