1991 Toyota MR2 2.2L NO RESERVE
1991 Toyota MR2 Description
This 1991 Toyota MR2 was purchased new in California and I acquired it from the original owner in 2009 and have since added 50k of it’s approximately 94k indicated miles. This MR2 is finished in crimson red over a black interior with blue seats. Power is supplied by a mid-mounted, naturally aspirated 2.2L inline-four mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle. Additional features include air conditioning, cruise control, t-bar roof panels, pop up headlights, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors and a rear spoiler.
This MR2 has been garaged, kept stock, has no rust and recently passed a California smog inspection. I did all of the routine maintenance myself. It includes an owner’s manual, original Toyota glass roof panel protective bags, original tool kit, VIN etching on all glass except the windshield, a clean Carfax report and a clean California title.
I bought this car from my parent's neighbor right across the street. He was a professor that was the 1st owner of this MR2 and also had an AW11 MR2. I fell in love with it as a kid. When he walked out one day and pulled it out of the garage then put a for sale sign on it he didn't even make it back inside before I went running out to him to ask how much. This has been a great car and my wife and I are sad to see it go. So why am I selling it? Recently my wife and I welcomed our first child and I was also diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease so I am trying to decrease the amount of vehicles I own. Since over the last few years I gave the MR2 the least amount of seat time, this will be the 1st I am selling out of 3-4.
Is there anything wrong with the car? It's not perfect. The paint shows signs of being almost 30 years old and original, there are a couple dings and it needs to keep a nice coat of wax. The right rear wheel shows minor curb rash. I'm on my 3rd power antenna mast over the years and it is currently broken, the nylon teeth keep snapping. It also drips a little bit of oil and occasionally has a puff of blue smoke on startup.
The interior is very clean. Dash is in very good condition. Seats show very low wear for the age. Carpet and floor mats are in excellent condition. All buttons, lights, and switches work as they should. And it is a California car so it has no rust.
