1979 Toyota Land Cruiser Description

This is a 1979 FJ-40Land Cruiser in original Dune Beige color with off white trim. This 79-year model is the first year of thefinal FJ40 version sold in the USA.

This FJ40 has received a complete body-off framerestoration. The vehicle was completely dismantled, the frame was abrasive blasted and powder coated.All body panels and body tub have been abrasive blasted, having all rustrepaired with either new panels or welded-in steel. Under body stiffeners wereremoved, repaired and reinstalled with all surfaces being repainted beforereassembly. Etching primer was used onbare steel before the final coat of original “Dune Beige” paint was applied.

The 1979 model yearupgrades include a larger gas tank (22 gallons), increased output alternatorand higher differential ratio for improved highway speeds. Other originalequipment includes factory heater, power front disc brakes, rear seats andinternal roll bar. AC compressor and condenser have been installed in enginecompartment. AC head unit is available but not installed.

Brakes, axles and drive shafts have all been rebuilt. Theengine is originalF2 straight six. AWeber two-barrel carburetor has been installed on the stock intake manifold. Transmissionis original with new gaskets and seals. A performance exhaust header has beeninstalled with a new exhaust system. New fuel lines and brake lines have beeninstalled as well as a new gas tank. Seat upholstery and dash is new, as wellas new head liner.

This vehicle is in excellent condition and must be seen to understandthe full extent of meticulous work completed. It is available for viewing andinspection in the Houston area.
