1972 Toyota Carina Deluxe (MK1 Corolla and Celica chassis) RARE JDM TA12L-HA
1972 Toyota Corolla Description
1972 Toyota Carina Deluxe ...when was the last time you saw one of these first generation Corolla chassis cars? I'm going out on a ledge here and saying this is possibly the finest original version of one of these cars in the US, let alone overseas. This car was cared for and shown by the original owner from its purchase in Phoenix until he re-located and ultimately retired here in Wisconsin at 98 years old. The owner tenderly cared for the car and maintained it while stored indoors its entire life. This car was never driven in snow and never saw salted roads. The dry Phoenix climate did not take a toll on the soft materials of the car and it was clearly cared for with pride. I've taken lots of pictures of the car which should speak very well for the cars condition in and out. The car needs very little to be a true show or museum piece. Below are listed the only "issues" with the car: Vinyl roof covering is showing its age (see pictures) "Deluxe" badge on passenger c-pillar is missing Headliner at rear is showing some shrinkage Rear kick panels are still covered with original clear plastic, however degraded. Brown vinyl has shrunk. Front seats show some seam separation and wear on driver's seat bolster Carpeting shows some wear, particularly in rear as this car DID belong to a smoker. Minor burns on floor. Door pull/armrest on driver's door shows some damage Minor dent on hood forward/center (see in pics) Minor dent at driver's door opening/jamb area (see in pics) Minor dent/scrape over driver's rear wheel arch (see in pics) Minor dents in rear valance pans (see in pics) The GOOD qualities of the car are read here: This car is all original down to the paint and body. There is a receipt for a fuel pump replacement at 37,xxx miles in Phoenix as well as the original dealers decal on the rear of the car and matching license plate surround. The car runs and drives great and stops straight. If anyone is not familiar with this car, the automatic transmission cars are not the fastest little machines, however it does travel fine at 70mph if you care to get on the freeway. All lights, horn and even the AM radio work. The only non-functioning piece is the A/C as the belt is removed due a possible problem with the A/C compressor. All windows open and close nicely and doors function smoothly. The tires are in excellent condition although older, I personally have no worries about driving on them at highway speeds. Speaking of lights-the original Toshiba-brand headlights are still in place and function as do all the turn signals and reverse lights/brake lights. The engine runs very nice after warm up and there is no smoke and no unusual noises. The temperature stays cool and the oil pressure gauge indicates properly. The original owner was so proud of this car he began showing it at local shows in the Eau Claire, WI area before it was sold off through the estate process. The placards/picture frames used as display pieces are shown in the trunk pictures. This car never went through any prolonged terms of storage allowing for storage damage to set in such as surface rust on the bottom or poor engine seals. See the underside photos-no leaks and nothing was wiped off prior to the photos being taken. You could honestly eat off of the bottom of this car. The underside is the same color as the top, the subrails are perfect and there are no signs of any accident damage ever occurring to this vehicle. I am really hoping the next owner of this car preserves it or properly restores it. The title is clear and is still in the original owners name. The new owner will be the 2nd owner and will not have any disappointments with this rare Toyota. Perfect addition to the collection of early Japanese imports. I will work with shipping companies and will deliver within Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan or Indiana for .50/mile. The car is sold with no warrantees or guarantees of any kind and is available for inspections. Please contact me at 760-473-4814, my name is John. Below are the additional Photobucket pictures:
