1986 Toyota AW11 MR2 5-speed with 58,000 miles
This car was purchased new by an older gentleman in Maine who drove it until his passing in 2010. His daughter stored the car for two years before selling it to a man in New Hampshire, intended as a gift to his granddaughter for a first car. She did not want a car with a 5-speed, so I bought the car in 2014 and brought it to Massachusetts. The car has been garaged most of its life and always stored for the winter.
I've replaced the windshield, brake pads, and wiper blades. That's all the car needed.
The only thing that I know doesn't work is the interior trunk release, but the trunk is still accessible with the key. There is some surface rust on the front passenger wheel arch and under the front fascia, common issues for these Mr2's. There are no issues with 5th gear pop out and no leaks from the sunroof.Comes with 2 keys and the wallet spare, the original window sticker, a Haynes manual,tool kit, and jack. I'll even throw in Appetite for Destruction on cassette.
This car is a street legal go kart. It feels like a skateboard with an engine bolted to it. The exhaust sounds like a hive full of angry bees with chainsaws. The Mr2 gives you the opportunity to experience mid-engine driving for tens of thousands less than something Italian. This car has never been raced, tracked, or autox'ed
This isn't a first car for your kid; it's your first classic car. This is a driver's car. No power steering, no ABS brakes, or any other nannies. AW11's are getting harder and harder to find in this condition. Most have been riced, stanced, or just rusted to oblivion.It's unique styling, bulletproof reliability, rarity, and excellent gas mileage make it the perfect entry level classic car.
This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Mileage may increase since I can't resist driving it. Clean MA title in hand.
