1985 Toyota Celica Coupe Description

available for sale:

A recent move has takenus from 5 covered parking spaces to 2, and has me selling my Super Clean and well maintained (with receipts) 1985 Celica GT-S Coupe. This car represents the last of the Rear Wheel Drive Celicas, and comeswith the venerable 22RE Fuel Injected Engine mated to the equally tough 5-Speed Manual Transmission. This particular car is the latest I've come across, with a production date or April, 1985. This is a well optioned model with the VERY rare leather interior in black, and in great shape. This car has ICE COLD Air Conditioning, Power Windows, and Cruise Control, all of which work properly. If you know older Toyotas, you know as well as I that at 56,539original miles, this Celica is barely broken in.Best of all, with so many RWD Celicas modifiedpast the point of no return, thiscarremains almost entirely bone-stock. It will be up to the next owner to decide the path to be taken, with no apologies lurking in the past. The only current exceptions of note to "stock status" are an antenna booster, thewindow tint, and the choice to stagger the tire widths.

These cars are becoming pretty uncommon these days.My wife and I have gotten into the habit over the last few years of buying a "fun car" in the spring, and reselling it in the fall. I searched 3 springs in a row for a 3rd Generation Celicaworth buying with noluck, before finding this one in April right here on eBay. Thatauction is still in the completed listings if you want to check it out. It was Item Number141966303166 at that time. The previous owner had brought the car to PA from FL, and done a long list of maintenance and minor repairs. One of his receipts in shown in the images. Ipickedthe Celicaup inPA while we were still living there part-time, and brought her back to NC (trailered) with us shortly later.I've made a few additional small repairssince april, and used the car for a couple weekends of fun... including a Cars& Coffee yesterday where the car got more attention than the cars on either side of herthat carriedprice tags ten-fold higher. The car runs well and efficiently, shifts smoothly, stops and steers well, and is a blast to drive.

Thepaint on the car is pretty good as you can see, and thecarremains 99%or better rust free, having lived in FL forMANY years. Oddly for a FL car, The DASH PAD is not all cracked up, and the door panels and leather are in excellent shape for the age of the car.

ALL PICTURES INCLUDED ARE CURRENT and NOT ALTERED IN ANY WAY.

Please look over them carefully, and feel free to ask for any other angles that you may need.

IMPERFECTIONS:

I would consider the car to be a 10 footer, even after hearing compliments over the last couple months that make me feel overly critical. The paint is good, but not GREAT. There area few spots where the clearcoat is lifting, a few thin or faded spots (the worst of which is on the roof), and a few hints of rust (2 small spots at the front sunroof corners as usual, and one peeking out from below the door moulding near the right rear marker light).

The previous owner told me he had never opened the power sunroof, and that the car had come to him with the switch taped over. I've removed the tape, but heeded the warning. The power door locksdo nothing, and the left rear view mirrordoesn't power adjust, but the right does. Also, the original radio is in amazing shape, and makes fairly decent sound for a 30+ year old radio, but the display isn'tworking properly. The tape deck untested... I haven't owned a cassette tape in 20 years.

That pretty well sums it up I think. She's nota PERFECT car, butFAR above average. I think you would be hard pressed to finda better 3rd GenerationCelicaout there, and even less likely to find a highly optioned Coupe so close to the end of the production run. Feel free to ask any and all questions, we're easy to reach and communicate for a living. I've set the "Buy it Now" at what I have"invested"in the car overthe past couple months. The reserve is set agoodbit lower because I hate the concept of letting this carsit outside. It hasn't yet, but sooner or later my wife is going to want half of this 2 car garage, and my mistrezz lives in the other side, so this one needs a new home.

Obviously the Celica is being sold as is/where is and with no warranty of any sort. That said, a Toyota in motion tends to remain in motion, and with a cell phone and a back up plan, I would drive the car anywhere I wanted to go.

The Toyota can be seen thoughout the course of the auction at our home in Archer Lodge, NC, or possibly in Raleigh with a bit of notice and a sunny sky. Thetitle isA CLEAR PA ANTIQUE TITLE IN MY NAME, WITH NO LIENS, verifying the mileage as correct. The title is in my hand (or on my desk, anyway), and ready to be signed over to a new owner with no delay.

THE SMALL STUFF: Payment in full must be made within 7 days of the close of the auction following a non-refundable $500 deposit through PayPal that must be received within 24 hours of the auction ending. Payment methods accepted for the balance will be cash (always best), a bank wire transfer directly to my credit union (also preferred), or a cashier's check from a bank with branches in the Raleigh Area. Any method other than cashmay require up to 7 days to season before the car will be released to buyer or transport. If your plan is to come toRaleigh to pick up the car, I can arrange to pick you up at the airport (RDU), bus, or train station. If you would be planning to ship theCelica, we can make our schedule fairly flexible to arrange to meet a transport service of your choice. Several cars we've sold over the years have been shipped. The Toyota can stay here after payment in full has been received for up toa month to accommodate YOUR schedule - garaged, and of course - not driven after the payment is received. IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE THE USA PLEASE EMAIL ME BEFORE MAKING A BID OR PURCHASE to have your activity approved. Failure to do so may result in forfeiting your deposit. The mileage today shows 56,539, and will change slightly during the course of the listing. For certain it willremain less than 56,839. PLEASE ASK any and all questions, or for more images of anything you want to see "close-up". Your bid is a binding contract to purchase - not to consider. Thanks for looking, and Take Care. ~ Rob.
