1964 Triumph TR4 Roadster
This car came from a private individual that purchased the car 1n 1998 and drove the car until 2013. Then placed it in a milk barn in Virginia and left it until recently and I bought it to restore but another project has availed itself so I'm moving to another restore.
This is a 1964 TR4 British Racing Green with a solid rear axle and a 4 speed transmission. The engine is a 4 cylinder engine 2138cc/104HP that runs good but need work on the carbs. (2 Stromberg original carburetors). The transmission works properly but does not have overdrive.
The body is straight as arrow and looks great as you can see from the pictures. There is rust and bubbling in the rockers and in the driver’s floor….but not that bad. Someone tried to fiberglass the floorboard but did a poor job. I have seen it done to perfection and that’s what I was going to do to make a nice driver.
The fenders and quarters and frame are great with no rust (surface rust on frame). The trunk needs detailing and sanding to look good again with a back board at the gas tank and a new trunk board to cover the rear spare. It too is a nice wire wheel.
This is a nice original wire wheel car with new tires. The interior is nice and the seats are perfect. They are done in black leather with white piping as was the original. It has a nice vinyl top with no tears. There must be attention to the brakes for it has sat for three years and it needs a slave and master cylinder…and obviously pads and rotors turned.
This car is perfect for a complete restore or a driver. It would not take much to get it looking cosmetically good and operational. It runs, the body is straight, buy a rocker, and a paint job and it will be exceptional.
This car is 50 plus years old and it just needs a little work to be made to run and look good.
Hagerty appraises a concours TR4 @ $48K, excellent @$33K, good @ $21K and fair @ $13K….average is around $20K. This car could be average with just a little effort.
