Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very attractive and fast TR-6 convertible finished in one of the best Triumph color schemes for the period. Plenty has been spent on this car's restoration to a very good standard both in, out, and under.
Details of the restoration include newer paint, windshield, complete interior kit including leather seats, interior panel kit, dashboard top pad, crash pads, switch plate, solid wood Teak dashboard, (4) smaller safety gauges, complete carpet kit, soft top, tonneau cover, top boot, trunk kit, rubber body and door seals, floor mats, 3-point seat belts, restored wheels, new redline tires (5), Monza free-flow exhaust system, upgraded aluminum radiator with auxilary cooling fan, upgraded new SU carburetor set, very nice detailed undercarriage, etc.
The previous owner indicated that the engine is a fully rebuilt unit with a hot street camshaft, although no receipts are available. It is extremely clean and nicely painted with many new exterior parts noted. Fluids are very clean and up to the mark. The engine is very healthy, revs quickly, sounds brutal through the Monza system, and feels like a balanced unit. There is no shortage of power. Oil pressure cold is 60-80, then settles into 25-55 when hot. Water temperature runs in the middle of the gauge. The clutch feels strong, the gearbox shifts well with good syncros, but the overdrive unit is currently not operating (electrical?). The driving experience is typical TR-6 but with a lot more urge/horsepower throughout the whole rev range. Idle is a little lumpy, as expected. Brakes, suspension, steering, ride is all very good.
The body on this car appears completely honest, solid and accident-free. Panel gapping looks fairly consistent and normal for a TR-6. The engine compartment is very clean and well-detailed. Exterior paintwork is very decent and attractive overall, with the quality typical of that of standard factory car.
Overall, this comprehensively restored TR-6 is finished in a fantastic color scheme with the rare factory overdrive gearbox fitted. The car presents beautifully with extra detailing and attention given to the car's underside, which is rare on most other "restored" cars. Thousands have been spent bringing the car up to this level. This car is very good value when considering current restoration costs.
